Default Cobra for sale on Cobra Country

Anyone seen the ad for the Cobra on Cobra Country.

427 Cobra Country--Ford AC Cobra replica manufacturers SUPER-SITE

A replica build and registered in 1964???

"For Sale: 1964 427SC Cobra replica—built in 1964 and first registered in 1964."

California car and no mention of SB100.

if it was built in 1964 and first reg in 1964, then its a 1964 car no smog and no need for a SB100

Agree. But, were there any "replicas" built in 1964? I doubt it, but I could be wrong.

Gimme a break, there is NO WAY this is a 1964 car, period. Statements such as these, made to the California DMV have resulted in a FRAUD conviction and people going to jail. Frankly, I'm surprised Curt Scott, owner of Cobra Country, would allow someone to run such an ad on his site. If the car is currently registered in Calif and it represented as an orignal 1964 build it IS an illegal car. I'd run from this one.

On a side note: $58K? Not a snow balls chance in hell of it bringing that kind of coin. There is nothing special about the car.

Says it's a cross bolted "4 bolt main" 427. Hmmm, a total of 6 bolts in the mains, must have been special in 1964, along with the 1964 Mustang suspension.

Isn't that a glass car? I'm looking at the front quarter/engine compartment intersection.
If so, it ain't no '64.

5 speed
Autometer gauges
rear fender openings have no flare
no rivets on hood nor scoop
tinted laminated windshield
rear track looks too wide too
Pretty updated for a '64.

I can't believe were even having this discussion on 'it might be a 64'. If "we" are even slightly confused on the issue what chance has a 'newbie' in the Cobra market got?

Curt Scott, you reading this? Do the right thing, insist the seller correctly list the ACTUAL year of build and quit promoting this fraud.

I don't think there was ever a question, but found it amusing.

I bet you the guy has the car registered as a 1964...

I sent a msg. to Curt. I can't believe he put this on his website. I'll let you know what his response is.

Still no change in the ad...first ever Cobra Replica built and registered in 1964.

I'm tempted to shoot the guy an email.

Are any of you SoCal folks familiar with the car?

BTW - I'm sure the hidden meaning is something like "cars like it were first built and registered in 1964."

Anybody w/the slightest knowledge of replicas can tell this wasn't built in 1964.

Agree. But why say it at all? It's just a sleazy sales tactic.

Can't quite make out the nameplate on top of the driver's foot box. The hood hold downs look like ones I've seen on older NAF's. Mr. Stewart has already told us its over five years old, 'cause that's how long he took to "rebuild" it. It appears Mr. Stewart needs to be a little more forthcoming....

The thing on the rollbar looks like he took the Michelin Man hostage and wrapped him around his rollbar.

It's not good for the market or the reputation of replicas in general, I consider it out right fraud. THIS is the VERY reason Mr. Morgester, Calif prosecuting attorney, is looking for these kind of cars. The guy should be ashamed of himself.

I say leave the poor guy alone. He obviously already has a few nuts missing.
No reason to slam his car. 99% of cars advertised in Cobra Country are replicas, and maybe half are registered fraudulently. So he thinks it's more marketable as a '64. So what? Who cares? Just the guy that's thinking of buying it, right? And if someone's actually interested, then they have the same taste and values
