Will a side oiler run on anything other than high octane gas?

Alternative fuel
Ask Willy and ALGORE, maybe some recycled french fry fat, corn and soybeans.
Corn is food!
Gas made from crude is fuel.
Gasoline traded today -14 cents, diesel -4.9 and crude back under $100. Quick to go up, slow to go down.

They estimate drilling in ANWR alone would keep us in oil for decades to come. I wonder how much the price would come down, and how many jobs would be created drilling, and building more refineries while we're at it. the "greens" have the option of not driving, or using natural gas in any form if they want to protest it.

Won't stop me! Heck, I'm finally about finished with my build, getting ready to drive it this weekend!
I don't care what gas costs, I'm driving my Cobra!

When I put the filler nozzle back in the pump after infusing near 15 gallons (small tank) of Premium fuel into the car, I sometimes get a grin on my face, it could be that I realize I may be able to afford it, or that I'm getting ready to take a lengthy drive, then reality sets in and it feels like I just got freshly Phucked .

Cobra gas is money spent on recreation and entertainment. The problem I see is the cost of daily driving, and the cost of fuel going up makes the cost of everything else go up. I am a contractor and a routine 70 mile day in my truck at work will cost me near $30 before I even start making money. Who do you think pays for that? The cost of lumber goes up who pays for that? The consumer eats the cost. Pay checks don't go up in direct proportion though. My son says "Dad the cost of gas isn't going up, the value of the dollar is going down". Man isn't that the truth. No holden back here atleast not yet.

Fortunately I don't have to drive a lot any more, but yesterday I did fill my car up and the price had risen from $3.29 per gallon for the low grade to $3.49 and they said it would be going up again next week. I did hear one person say they saw a some station that had a price of $3.19 for the low grade, so it does vary widely around here.

Darren,
I took your advice & swapped the carb with the same type, known good one last night. Idles great, so I ordered another carb from Summit last night & the scheduled delivery date is this Friday.
I had to modify the slave cylinder push rod (lengthen it), it's not pushing the fork far enough forward to disengage the clutch. The modification is done, I'll be installing it tomorrow night (got plans tonight). Friday night I'll be installing the new carb & try again Saturday to get it out on the road. They say the third time is a charm!
Stop by Saturday if you get a chance.
See ya,
Randy

It will not keep me from driving the Cobra. But my other summer hobby will have some changes. My Wakeboard boat goes through 100 gallons a week in the summer when I am using it. Time for the fellow boarders to bring some cash I guess. Or more Beer. Boat seems to run great on Beer.

I don't care about the cost, not because i'am rich, cause i am not, BUT it's a lot cheaper than a therapist. One ride and my mind is clear and my problems are gone.

Quite frankly, it's global warming that has me worried more than the price of fuel. Seeing where Europe is today, I've already resigned myself to a future $5.00 per gallon gas price near the end of 2009 if not sooner.
But as some will argue, car's aren't the only polluters. It's the industries in other parts of the globe that don't even attempt to cut back (i.e. China!)
They are a throwback to our industrial revolution but with lousier quality control (I think that's an oxymoron in China). Actually, I take it back. There is no "quality control" in China because the quality is all EQUALLY ****TY so there's no need for controls. Keeps the prices down not having to check everything.
Ok, enough of that.
Thinking of the future when I retire, I figure the trade off will be no more daily commuting, increase my driving the Cobra until I lose my left leg... then maybe I'll convert it to an automatic.
In the near term. It'll just hurt everytime I fill up regardless of which car I drive.

As little as the car is driven, gas price is irrelevant to me...at long as it's $3.49 and gallon! Look at it this way; if your car gets 7 mpg and gas cost $1.50 a gallon, you spent about $ 0.22/mile. At $3.50 it's still only $.050/mile.
Cheapest therapy you can get and a lot more effective!

Didn't buy the Cobra to worry about gas prices.
Something else may suffer but NOT my driving time in the BEAST!

Didn't get the Cobra 'cause it got good gas mileage. It's all about how it makes you feel. If you're worried about the cost of fuel...that would be the time to sell the car! I don't forsee that any time soon or far off for that matter.

There is a crossover point where the cost of a gallon of gasoline can no longer be justified versus a gallon of pure methanol. We'll know we've reached that crossover point when we start reading about methanol conversions here on CC.
So with that logic firmly in hand, I'm not overly worried about the rising price of fuel. But only because there are viable substitutes at some point that may be more economical. It hurts me more in my daily driver than the toy would drink over its lifetime (or mine).

Isn't that the truth! Should I become a therapist, all sessions would be 0-60 in 2.8 seconds! That should pay for the gas. . .

Small block is starting to look good.. My diesel truck will be the one that hurts at $4.00 a gallon and heading higher, I rarely drive it at $150 per fill up gets around 9-10 mpg pulling trailer, use to be diesel was less than gas..not any more. I feel sorry for the folks with kids at home as all of these price increases hurt them the most, hopefully in the future someone in the Oval office will bring some sanity back as it seems everything is out of control now.
