Question Hood rivet question?

I am debating on whether I want to add the hood rivets or not. My question is for those who have them, or have added them, what are they and what is the best way to do it. I would assume after laying them out, you drill the hole and then pop the rivet in the top of the hood. Is this a normal aluminum pop rivet you purchase at any hardware store or is it something different or special. What are your thoughts as far as appearance on having the rivets in the hood and none around the scoop since it is molded into the hood?

I am using 4-40 s.s button head screws about the same size as rivets but when using locking nuts there is no chance of damaging the paint

Thanks,

Did some searches on older threas and found a lot of other ideas and suggestions. I think all it lead to was more confusion and more decision making.

I also used stainless button heads on the hood and not on the scoop. I think it looks fine.

Jim,

If you want the absolute original look, then you almost need to use the rivets. But I have seen some that have used the screws as the above posts said, and they are hard to tell apart, and a plus to me would be if you even need to take the scoop off, it is mush easier to remove the screws without as much chance of damaging the paint. Just my opinion, but I would use the screws if it were me doing it after seeing how they look on others.
