Default Registering Cobra's in Canada

How are you guys registering your Cobra's in Canada, specifically, Ontario.
I live in Ontario and also have a house in Florida, but USA non-resident.
I woud buy a Cobra either here in Canada or the USA if I thought I could register it in Canada, or at least bring it across the border and pay the GST if registered in Florida.
I looked in the DMV site and it states "No Kit Cars"
Also E Mailed a builder in Niagara Falls that I found in Cobra Country, but no reply.
Thanks

Do not purchase a finished car in the US with the plan of bringing it to Canada. You cannot do that as the car does not meet federal safety standards (no air bags, never been crash tested, etc). However you are allowed to import car parts into Canada so you must bring in parts, not a car. It is probably best to not even have all of the parts arrive at the same time as some bone head Customs guy may decide that it is a car in pieces.

I looked at several US kits before deciding to build a Johnex, at least partially to avoid potential problems at the border.

Do not call Transport Canada to ask for advice because they are totally useless and will tell you that you cannot own a kit car in Canada. Been there, done that, hung up the phone reall quick.

Can't you import older completed cars into Canada (15 years old) without the safety issues?

Yes, you have to prove that the car was built 15 years + ago.

How do you prove it was built 15 years ago? I have a 1992 Classic Roadster. It is titled as a 1992. I have original bill of sale and some old invoices relating to the build. Does that constitue proof?
