It is incredibly unfortunate that this story was broken today, which will no doubt make people think it is a spoof. In fact, I have been working with Peter Brock for several months trying to put together a dossier on his car explaining its provenance. But we'll let the photos do the talking - you can't fake the additional ones Brock has at his home, many of which are the old, square "instamatic" type with dates on them. Just wait!

Looking forward to hearing some proof on the "lost" coupe, while at the same time wondering intently about today's date??? At least I'll know what to do with the Mega Million cash if I win....

It will be very interesting to see how the market values this car.
The fact that it is presumably undamaged and has been owned by Peter since day one would work in it's favor. On the other hand, from the sound of it, this car never raced in any of the 1965 manufacturers championship races, and therefore has no race history. Something that I would think would work against it.
It will be interesting.

I suspect Peter won't be able to comment personally beyond what he has all ready said due to the pending articles. This is WAY exciting news!

This is NOT good news at all! It means that Shelby will sue the car out from Brocks ownership because he broke his contract by revealing the existence of the car!

This just buzzed my shop! If you look closely you'll see a snake on the trunk.

Well, we finally got busted....and by Snopes to boot.
Word of the thread got to SAAC HQ and now, trusting no one on his staff, Rick Kopec sent me this note.

Check it out, as they say. I went to Snopes.com (the website that unmasks hoaxes) and... well, see for yourself.

...and sent this web page...

What's even weirder is that Snopes page doesn't exist!

page works for me
type in into the address bar and it takes you to the page. You can't get to it via their various sections and click to navigate.

We contacted Mr. Brock concerning the Snopes evidence. He did confirm that he was not in Modena at the time. However he would not confirm nor deny the last paragraph saying that Brock is a common name in the UK.
This mystery may continue……
Happy April Fools Day everyone

By going to Snopes I did get the message below
http://www.snopes.com/autos/brock-coupe.asp
You really should try it.
I have lots of great stories to tell you about vanishing hitchhikers
and bloody hooks
and exploding whales
and glurge
and gun-toting grannies
and hairy-armed hitchhikers
and murdered roommates._

Hmmm...guess I'd better check with Peter Brock and find out why he has been showing me what are apparently bogus pictures. To think he would stoop this low...it's shocking. I expected better.

It's sad that the proof of this being a hoax is that Shelby never gave ANYTHING away. Haha
