Exhause flanges
Hi, can anyone help? I am looking if there are drawing available of the exhause flange to bolt on my AFR 185 heads. I need to have them made here and make my own headers.
Thanks, regards from Sweden

That may be an idea, I was thinking to find an AutoCad drawing so I can have the steel flanges cut out by waterjet

Do the AFR heads have a narrow and/or wide bolt pattern? I've got a drawing derived from a set of Earls gaskets with the narrow pattern. Port size 1.62"H x 1.125"W.
If you give me the port size and its relationship (height-wise) to the bolt holes, I might be able to whip up something.

185's have the narrow standard ford bolt pattern, 205's & 225's have both standard and wide.

Is the port centered vertically on the bolts?
With only 0.335" between the edge of the port and the center of the bolt, there isn't much room for a wrench. Generally, even with the narrow port, the tubing flares out from the port but is dented in to clear the bolt head.

Have you checked to see if AFR, Summit, or Jegs (among others) may sell the flanges? I have a friend who can probably sell you the flanges with stubs attached if you would like to go that route?

Bob, I have not checked by Summit or AFR. Keith Craft have build my engine, the heads are CNC machined so I am not sure if the port size is standard. how much do your friend ask for e set?

Stephan,
I would need to know the exact size of your ports and relationship to the bolt hole location to see how much machining he would need to do to a standard set. A good chance the standard set will fit with little or no machining. I will check with him today and get back to you.

I used a local exhaust supplier to help me fab my exhaust system. they do outstanding work. I/m sure if Chris doesn't have it he can point you in the right direction. Here is the link to his site

Let me know how it goes.

I try to enclose a photo for you, but my images are too large to publish here. I will find a solution.
