Default 1968 NY Auto Show

I am looking for help on finding any photos of the 1968 NY Auto Show Mercury exhibit that might show the 1968 Cougars. I have checked with the NY Auto Show historian, but no luck. Any other ideas?

Thanks. Jim

Jim,

Have you tried the CCOA? They may have info on the show.

Aw, c'mon Jim. That old Cougar roach you are restoring is practically beyond hope. You should be spending your time locating old road signs (for new floors), buckets of pop-rivets, and 55-gallon drums of bondo to tie it all together. Then, rather than trying to make it look like the cars on display at the '68 NY Auto Show, just get out a fat brush and some Rustoleum. Job done.

Ned, Ned, Ned, I know the memories are probably foggy for someone your age, but try to remember we have already borrowed all that stuff from you after you finished the Edsel restoration. Do I need to bring up the Woody AMC Pacer again?

I do like the Rustoleum idea, though. Do they sell it a 5-gallon buckets?

We like to call our Cougar the "Eiffel Tower Cougar" because of the lattice work sheet metal, by the way.

Any long time dealers in the area you could approach?

BTW is that the year the Cougar sat on top of the L/M sign in the TV commercials and gave out a fierce growl?

Why, Maxwell, I will have you know that my memory is just fine, thank you. And as for age, well, I am sneaking up on 60 like a runaway freight train, and I'm not embarrassed to say so. As for the sheet metal, rivets, and bondo you borrowed from me, uh, I don't remember that. Thanks for reminding me.

Ned, I am given pause when I do an analysis of your postings here on Club Cobra. Are you aware (the answer to that is obvious to most) of the number of times you have used the word "roach" in your postings? Now, I may be a child of the 70's rather than the 60's, but I know where that term came from.
As for sneaking up on sixty, no offense, but have you looked in a mirror lately?

Question

Jim, I would gladly respond to these scurrilous comments, but there's no point in doing so, as you have clearly gone around the bend. Your problem is simple: This is your brain: "ALL COBRA TALK." This is your brain on whatever illicit substances you are ingesting: "ALL COUGAR TALK." Any questions?

Ned,

As someone who like to keep track of numbers I noticed that your current post count is 666, which just happens to be part of my home phone number.

How come we don't have a red smiley with horns?

IntCobra, surely I have no idea what you are talking about. Just check my posts, and I guarantee it will be above 666. Is it possible you and Jim have the same supplier of wacko?

I keep my supplier of wacko strickly to myself! If I find he has another customer, I will be very upset! (although I suspect some of that wacko has worn off on those with whom I occasionally associate.)

Is it not ironic that we have such clear memories about the very plant which we were told back in the 60's, was going to destroy our memories, so much for science. Long live Timothy Leary!!!! OF COURSE my horticultural experience back then with Indian Hemp was only twisting it into rope for my fellow sailors. Yeah--right!!

1ntcobra,

A red smiley with horns would confuse many of us on here as we wouldn't know which one it was.
