You can find those Exoto models from time to time over at www.GoMotorBids.com. When they go up for auction, GoMotorBids starts them at $1 with no reserve price. There are some of the GMP 1/12th scale Cobras up for auction now.

Why would someone put a $400 car up with a no reserve $1 starting bid?

I sure wish they'd make a 427 car, they have great detail!

I have several of the Exotic models including the set of 6 Daytona Coupes and they are very good. They also sent me free a polished stainless steel one because I had purchased the whole set as they came available. And I have been offered more for them than I gave, so I guess they weren't such a bad purchase.
Now I have my book form them here in front of me and they have a hand built 1/8th Ferrari 315S/ World Champion Car from 1957n for just $14,850.00. But you can buy the engine and gear box alone for only $,950.00. Hurry as supplies are limited.

I love my Exotos, but the GMP's are even better. My favorite is the Ken Miles FIA car. Owning it is a poor second to having the original, but the GMP fits my budget.

That's $1 starting bid with no reserve price is kind of a "mantra" at GoMotorBids.com

Kyosho just released a 1/12th scale 427 S/C. Not quite as nice as if GMP had done it, but still pretty nice and slightly cheaper:

Default How do they compare?

I've got one of these Franklin Mint ones, but am interested in getting an exoto or other high dollar models. Anyone have an Exoto and a Franklin Mint car? How do they compare?

CSX4039:
The Franklin Mint's are very good as well, but because of their smaller size (1/24th scale), they simply can't pack in the really intricate detailing that the 1/18 Exoto's or the 1/12th scale GMP's can. In terms of future value and collectability, Franklin Mint made a TON of those cars (10,000+ I think), whereas the Exoto's usually have production runs under 5,000, and some of the big GMP Cobras only had a mere 350 made of them.

Hey, I just bought a pretty little red 289 GMP for "only" $221. Thanks for the GoMotors link. I'd copy and paste some pics of it, but they disabled the right mouse button on their pics. I'll do a high def comparison of it and the Franklin Mint one when I get it.
$221 ain't bad, when the new exoto's are $498. !

I had to buy two Franklin Mints. Drove me nuts looking at CSX 4039's damn car every day, so I bought a second one and sanded down the decals (painted on) and then gave it a scotchbrite finish with ghost stripes to look like mine.

It's much faster than the other one.

Congrats on the win. Thank you for signing up and bidding!! Sorry about the image protection, we have to protect our stuff, or else we end up providing images for every ebayer under the sun. How about I post them on your behalf?

We've got several other big 1/12 Cobras up for auction right now, as well as an Exoto. Just go to the www.GoMotorBids.com homepage and enter the word COBRA in the search field. You'll pull them all up.

I saw a Franklin Mint bare aluminum model one time that had to have been 1/8, 1/6 or so size. It was big and very cool.

I remember it was $1000.

Would look cool on the fireplace mantel.

Creative Masters did some very nice Cobras in 1/20 scale a while back. I have two, the original red 427 SC and the newer black 427 SC. They also made a racing version (#98) of the 427 w/small windscreen. These Cobras are out there and can be had for very reasonable prices.
