How about the "Bobra Cash"? No, huh?
Too much cloak and dagger for me, but I'm sure there are reasons.
OK, so can we nominate some new names for next year's event?
(The above was said all in jest, not meant in any way or construed to be an attack on anyone hereinafter referred to as the organizers).

Duane,
Thanks for the clarification. As I stated in my original post on this thread, I do not want to step on any toes.

I like it. Let's not add BASH to the end of it though. Makes me whince in pain at the thought of it.

Hi Joe,
Appreciate the understanding and reply.
__________________________________________________ _________
All, with regard to other replies, we are not trying to make this secret or anything, it's just there are some details that have not been reviewed and decided on yet and part of the reason in asking for formal/written proposals was to see if those might help us in making the right decisions.
For now, we are mothballing WSCB as it was, and splitting up the Gathering/Drives part and Track Day is truly deserving of it's own venue and focus. Also, there are some insurance and liability aspects that have to be figured out. The core team has discussed it a bit, and it's possible we might do a 2012 WSCB reunion or something down the road if it makes sense later on. For now, we'll be looking at taking it into two smaller venues with a more simplified and revised approach, to help with reduced assumed risk.
I truly believe we can come up with some ideas that allow many of us from WSCB to still meet yearly (staying connected somehow), and do this in a less formal and less of a big-bang manner. For me and others, WSCB started to become too big (unmanageable) and we did not want it to lose it's character and appeal or to become stale. WSCB essentially became three different events under one, and it started going in too many different directions from the original intent of just getting together, hanging out, and driving our cars together...
Workign on some other stuff now. Visiting our CH1 locations this weekend and meeting with some other groups to see what can be pulled together. Meanwhile, some cool stuff is going on with the Track Day front as well. Check you later. More news after Summer is over, I would suspect.
Thanks again for the interest, and looking forward to attending any other Cobra events some of you guys come up with. Thanks!

How about the "Pacific Run In a Cobra Kavalcade"?
Well, it almost works.

Joe and Duane
First, Duane,
Thanks you for all you haver done to put togther first class events over the last 4 years. Well done even with formidable challenges. Your good works can not be praised enough.
Second, Joe at Kirkham,
As a person who attended 3 Reno gatherings including the 1st one, attended many Kirkham Open Houses, participated in several Kirkham Track Days, I can attest to the following:
1. If Kirkham is involved, it is a first class event.
2. Miller Motorsports Park is ideal for our roadsters. (SAAC 32 was here last year, for example) PS: be sure to look at the "track tour in a "Ford Cobra".
3. Non-Kirkham owners always welcomed and treated well.
Our Utah Cobra Club (UCC) has sponsored two past "Tour Utah" trips that included 3-days on the road and this year a 4-day cruise through Yellowstone, Jackson Hole, Idaho, etc. to get off the freeways and into some nice scenery away from phones and pc's. Can you say "vacation"? Our Club is willing to put some "bodies on the ground", so to speak, to help with any 2009 gathering/convention. Maybe the UCC could do the multi-day cruise part for example. This year we have 2 couples from AZ, 2 from NV, and 4 from SoCal, 24 roadsters in total. The women have become great enthusiasts as they are participating rather than spectating.
The Utah Cobra Club is small but fairly active:
As far as accomodations, SLC has wonderful convention-class facilities, so that would not be an issue.
Joe, if you want, I would be willing to put detailed ideas down and email them to you for input.
Whatever is decided, we at the UCC are willing to help. Let us know what is needed.
Sincerely,
Larry N. Johnson
President

Hi Larry,
Thanks a million. We always appreciated your support.
One key element about the Bash was making it vendor agnostic, so that everyone could attend and feel welcome regardless of manufacturer or type of car. If you recall, years back before the Bash, there was kind of a click of FFR people, SPF people, ERA people... so on and so forth. WSCB crushed those walls down on the first year. It became about was all Cobras and all people, then we added GT40s and Daytona Coupes.
In my opinion, the key is getting someone in a club such as yourself to host it and invite everyone from everywhere AND there needs to be something in addition to the cars and people to draw people there; BUT not to the degree that "something" is so distractive (like gambling) that people will stick around and participate. So, think of what other things people could do other than be at a track. This way people will invite their friends and family too... just some thoughts. Good Luck on this.

“Cobra Roundup” Announcement from the WSCB-Track Day Team!
Hi Folks,
As promised your former WSCB -Track Day Team, now calling ourselves “Cobra Roundup", is leaning towards having their next Track Day Event at Reno Fernley Raceway on May 15-17, 2009.
Our tentative plans so far:
The event weekend is focused at the track and will be open to Cobra, Daytona, Gt40 types only.
Friday afternoon & evening: check in, unhook your rig and get setup, grab a bite, tech your car, and depart to your favorite hotel. (we will be working on options for group accommodations.)
Saturday: A full day of driving on the track, with instructors and downloads, in various run-groups. At the end of the day we will have a champagne award presentation followed by a delicious Texas Style BBQ and Beer & Wine Garden. During Dinner we’ll be having GoPed & Pedal Car Drag Races with prizes for the winners. (let’s just start with that for now and see where it goes.) Oh Yes, we are definitely having a Women’s run group again, Absolutely!
Sunday: Same format as Saturday, without dinner, then head for home at the end of the day.
Looking Forward:
As we move through the ideas, transitions, and growing pains of WSCB, it is our intension to continue to provide a Track Day event where Cobra owners of any make and experience level can bring their car, drive at their own comfort level, learn and apply the safety rules and basic skills of driving on a race track, and of course, have FUN. This is was always at the core of WSCB-Track Day and because of its success and popularity we are committed to keeping with that format.
Your Track Day Team is racing and open tracking all year long. I go to the track and participate 12 to 14 weekends a year. For us, this is a way of life. For most of you, WSCB & Track Day has been the one event you look forward to, and feel comfortable enough with, to get out there on the track and see what it’s all about. I understand this, salute you for it, and don’t want to loose sight of what you’ve created here. Until I see and hear otherwise, we ain’t changing the program. We do, however, plan to make Track Day better.
Also, we are looking ahead at different tracks, different possibilities, and bigger venues for the future of Cobra Roundup. But for now and 2009, we have the date, the track, the instructors, and the support to make this happen. Updates and the launch of our new Cobra Roundup website will be coming soon!
Duane is working on developing his Cobras on Highway1 (CH1) gathering, drives, and 2-night stayover at two different locations along the route for an enjoyable get-together with friends and couples, September / October. Stay tuned on that front. I’m really excited about this new spin-off from WSCB. I can finally just show up with my JBL, calmly, and take a beautiful drive down the coast, with wax earplugs of course. I know the road well from my younger SoCal days but never thought to drive it in the Cobra. So, really looking forward to this drive.
If you’re serious about participating in Cobra Roundup 2009, please send me an email indicating your interest in our track event and I’ll put you on the list. :> john@bossjbl.com
Talk soon and looking forward to hearing from you,
John Marsey

Sounds good to me .... I would throughly enjoy a Hwy1 cruise (never done it in the Cobra) and driving Fernley again. Two different venues makes alot of sense and can be simpler to organize. Cobra Roundup 2009 here we come!

John,
I will be there at Reno-Fernley come May 2009, really looking forward to it!!
Also, thankyou for the offer to attend the two June events, I would very much like to come, but am not yet certain which weekend will work out best...thogh I suspect at the end of the month at Infineon will be it. I'm going to the kirkham event at Miller Motorsports park in the middle of the month, I have some family events to work around early in the month. I'll get back to you ASAP.
