I would also look at Unique as the Weavers are great to deal with....
Real Happy with my Unique 427 and received many compliments on the looks...
Just my $.02....

Check again, Factory Five Raceing has "Donorless Kits" now. For those of you that view the word "donor" as a dirty word this is now a non-issue. If you are reasonably competent with a wrench and a screwdriver and can follow instructions you can assemble a quality car. If you are not up to the challenge get a ready made car. Both can be fun. -John

I used two primary criteria when I decided to take the plunge:
1. Could I fit in it reasonably comfortable (I'm 6'3")?
2. Buy the most Cobra that I could afford.
Superformance ended up being the best match to both of those, and I ended up buying pre-owned. An outstanding market for that today...

Contact Shane Miller at Dynamic Motorsports...BUT...it will take about 4-6 months and cost about 55K....I am very happy with mine....but if you want it fast, this is a great market for used Cobra's and any of the major turnkey products would likely be all you want...

I was preparing to build a FFR using the complete kit. I added up the costs and just when I was getting ready to buy I found a Unique 427 with a Super FE stroked to 452 with under 2000 miles on it for much less than what it would have cost me to build. I love the Unique and with apologies to the FFR guys I think is much nicer. Take a hard look at the used market and be realistic in your build cost estimates. It will cost much more to build than one would think.

One tip is to look at the drive train carefully to make sure it is up to the power of a 427 FE . Some come with BMW rear ends , it can not last long under the torgue of a large motor. Next are the brakes , how are you going to drive it street , track ? Some kits come up short in this department. AS they say it cost more to do it over than to do it right the 1st time.

Pretty much ditto what Dean said. I'm 6' 2" and found that the seat position of the SPF with the rails removed (seat bolted down and moved as far back as possible) was perfect for me. I only test drove an FFR and and the SPF before deciding to go with the SPF.

Take a look at ERA. They build a very authentic car. Especially if you are looking at a 427 Big Block roadster. I am in the progress of working with ERA on a 427SC and I'm very please with their cars and the work that they are doing.

I own a Superformance with an FE and love it. But if they all cost the same I'd pick a Kirkham. I know two guys that have Kirkhams and the quailty goes beyond the aluminun body. A better car than the original.

It's very simple....
If you want to fool yourself, or others, in to believing "it is real," then CSX.
If aluminum is important to you, then Kirkham.
If you can wait, then ERA.
Otherwise, SPF.
If you can not afford an SPF, then investigate the myriad of others.

I bought my ERA 3 years ago and have less than 3000 miles on her due to family and business obligations. I belong to a great club on Long Island and can hardly attend any functions due to my business in refrigeration keeping me busy all summer. If you are looking for and ERA built car iwith every option, check out mine on cobra country or look at my pix. It breaks my heart to sell but if I cannot drive her, might as well let someone else enjoy the ride.
