385 series, 466 CI. Dual 660's with mechanical secondaries and center squirters. Mechanical advance distributor.
Only checked it once out of curiousity as I really don't give a rip. 6.5MPH, but I must get at least 50 to 60 smiles per mile.

Tony - been thinking Drag Radials or BB's. Probably order the drag Radials Monday - trying to figure out front and back size. Want to use all room in back I have.

496" side oiler
I sold my car, but the 2 times I checked mileage for ha ha's I was getting 12 mpg around town with the TWM and 3.54 gears. Had my foot into it a lot too! I checked it twice because I was amazed at the mpg, although I really didn't care what the mileage was.

The 5.0 Mustang guys run 9s on 10.5 inch drag radials all day long.
I just went to the drag strip a couple of weeks ago with the MACA boys and some seriously fast cars on little tires.
I just had my street tires on so all I did was baby her off the line.
12.06 @ 120mph
A lot of guys drive with drag radials and don't have any problems.
I just ordered the BB for the look. On my second set of rims I am going to get a set of M/T Sportsman S/R radials for street running.
I am getting the BB's first and if like them fine on the street I will get a set of drag radials for the rear instead for the second set of wheels.

I was curioius about my mileage, so I decided to check my freeway MPG this weekend. I've got a Roush 402SR with .082 OD and a 3.73 rear end. My average speed was ~70 with a few blasts above 80+. I ended up getting 14 MPG.

Decided to calculate my MPG this weekend, I have a Roush 402, TKO 500 with a DiVinci carb. I averaged around 14.25mpg with some spirited driving.

Emberglo66 - Seems like 14 mpg is the number for Roush 402's. Could probably squeeze a few more MPG with some tweaking, but I don't think we'd see any significant gains.

I also decided to check mine on Sunday. Went a little over 100 miles at a 70 MPH average. 12.0 MPG.

Dan:
The "Air Car" sounds like a scam, I'll believe it when it goes on sale. Maybe it's time for the rest of us to re-connect the old vacuum advance.

18 on the HWY, if I put my foot into it, 4 miles to the gallon.
I was getting better before the Dyno, but I was down in HP.

Air car not a scam as far as I can see.
Remember, this country ran people and materials on four cylinders for years in the form of steam. The idea is not new, but the distance I am sure is going to be different from a 100 ton+ locomotive and a 1700 pound car.

A lot of you guys say you couldn't care less about the price of gas. The way I see it, if you're getting 10 mpg @ 60mph that's about $5.00 for every 10 mins of drive time. That's definitely getting up there in costs, and how long before gas hits the $ 6.00+/gal. mark?
I know it's utterly disgusting for most Cobra owners out there to use a non-Ford engine, but I have always done my "thing", and that's why I decided to use a LS7 motor. Stock ZO6's easily are getting 28mpg , and with my .64 o/d and 3:55 gears, I'm hoping to get at least 25mpg and that's going to help take the sting out of the high price of fuel.

Just a hunch, but I think we'll see $4.00 gas before we see $6.00 gas. Some say that the run up in oil prices is due to speculation. If that's the case (no one knows), the bubble will burst and we'll benefit from slightly lower gas prices.

Premium gas in my area, Sacramento, CA, is $4.77 and I consider that price to be $5 I feel for those who have 3 ton truck/SUV's that get 14-19 mpg that those owners drive (commute) on a daily basis, now that is expensive. I choose when to drive my Cobra. If I had to drive my Cobra 100 miles daily to work at 10-12 mpg ($5 an hr as someone computed) that would put on strain on my budget.
But my Cobra is pure entertainment for me and I am worth $5/hr. (at least most of the time... )
