and The Wife Said $^*_)_
OK gang there have been many threads about how we feel and what we think about our Cobra but what about the wife. How does the wife feel about your baby, does she think it is the evil other women - I think you love that car more than me - she loves it and we fight about who gets to drive next.
Tell us how your wife feels about your Cobra? Any good quotes or 1 liners you can repeat. Did it cost ya a set of boobies or jewelry to finally get your dream car?

My wife loves it. Although after two trips from NW WA to the Bash in the POS, she may be rethinking that.

Cheerleader is the one who pushed me to get the Kirkham. I was ready to put alot of money into my beloved Butler, but once she saw the Kirkhams and met the family, she told me to stop screwing around...do it once and do it right (also pushed me to go big on the motor). She never once complained about the money or time spent going to Provo to have it custom fit around my ass. She attends every cruise and event when wives are "welcome" and loves the people who drive these little basturds. She actually carries a cheat sheet in her wallet...the specs on the back of a pic of it to show folks. She typically will sit all day at the track and play den mother to and match wits with the Gasholes, and helps pack the trailer, etc. Loves nothing better than to bundle up and go for a cold drive into the canyon.
Honestly, I can't brag enough about her being a partner in this thing. Guess marrying my high school sweetheart 35 years ago was a good move.

Hey Emberglo, do you work for Texaco?
BTW, wouldn't mind seeing a closer pic of the poster low and left in the pic either!
Great looking garage man.

Jamo your the luckest man on the planet
Jamo You got the gift.
vettestr My cobra was partial in costing me of a marriage, 3 car accidents,( I was hit 3 different times) neck is still not right. 2 additions to the house for the other half. Just got done with the BIG kitchen. 16'X24".Now I can get my motor done at Gessford Machine and the enclosed trailer for the car. Cost of Cobra to date $62,000.00. Cost of House to date $118,000.00 and some loose change. Problem with this is we all are only renting until our time comes. Problems between your other half and mistress, Fighting over quality time. Falling asleep on both, about 50/50. A weekend with other half great if it doesn't rain. Weekend with cobra PRICELESS. Both women make about the same noise and after a weekend with either, I feel like a have been riden hard and put away wet. It's all good Rick L.

Every time I sell one the wife calls me stupid.
Every time I find another we can afford, the wife tells me I would be stupid not to buy it.
After 22+ years of marriage, who am I to argue .
As with Jamo, my wife loves the cars, although she will not watch me race as it makes her to nervous......

I too am lucky enough to have full spousal support. She loves riding in the car. She knows she can drive it whenever she wants, but rarely does. She prefers to ride, take pictures and enjoy the sights. Best of all she has never complained once about exercising the engine
I keep hoping she will drive the car more..............because if she really gets into driving it............I know she may just talk me into getting a GT40 too. LOL Fingers crossed

She loves it too!
I have to ditto Jamo's comments.
I think the cheerleaders must have a union and rules to go by. Mine is the same as yours. It only took me 35 years AFTER graduating to hook up with mine, but now working on 10 years together. (The 1st Mrs Lee just couldn't understand the love we have for our cars. )
Carol helps wash and wax all of our toys, and loves to get into the small detailing items.
Best of all, she loves her track time behind the wheel.

My wife isn't a car person but really enjoys the overnight trips and interaction with the other wives in the local Cobra gang. The ones who really dig it are my two teen daughters who keep a running score of who rode last, how far the trip was, was it up North or only to a car show etc. Half the trips I take in the car are dropping them off at school, parties or to the library.
This is the wife and I at my little sister's wedding.

The wives or better half's who enjoy our Cobras seem to be the rule and not the exception. I too am lucky to have a wife that eats and breaths Cobras with me but she still will not drive them. Cathy is great and can identify any part on the car or build. This is a real change as nobody on her side of the family knows how to do anything but call the dealer for anything car related. They too love to go for rides but are in awe of the cars.
Looks like we are a lucky bunch in many ways. Being able to share the enjoyment of these cars and more importantly the people they bring together makes me very thankful.

Well, I don't even have my car yet and I have a story already. First, it appears the customs agents like to look at these things as well. They have had the container for four days so far.
As for the wife, I started out looking at Bug Eye Sprites as my Dad had one when I was a kid. My grandfather also owned a Ford dealership in the 60's so I remember the Cobra and all the dinner talk. My uncle really wanted it. He had to settle for a Torino Boss. My grandfather had a pair of '69 429 Boss Mustangs, one he drove, one he didn't. He also had '30's Jaguars, '50's Packards and a 41 Lincoln Continental Mark I.
Ok, now on to the wife. She was never around my grandparents when they had all the cars so she just does not understand, but when I started sourcing the Bug Eye and told her about it (did not cost much), she told me to "forget the go-cart and get what I really want". She still makes comments, but I just remind her that "she doesn't need to understand". I don't understand the aspiration to emmulate Imelda Marcos in the shoe department either.
Now, last week she calls me from her car all excited. She just saw a blue Cobra and it was really "cute". She can't wait to drive around in it. Now, I later made some comment about her not being able to drive it and she started to get a little pissy, until I backtracked and covered myself, rather nicely if I do say so myself, by telling her it was a manual, not automatic. She then agreed that it probably was not a good idea for her to drive it. We'll see.

My wife, Danielle, loves the car Spring/Summer/Fall
She hates it when winter arrives since that means time in the garage and $$$ out of the bank. I still say it is cheaper than a shrink and it always makes house calls.

For years i would admire any Cobra i might see. Once all my girls graduated from college I started thinking about buying one. One of there boy friends said there was a new dealer ship near him. The next day my wife and i took a ride over and her response was JUST BUY IT as long as she could pick the color. Two days later i ordered mine. Cathy enjoys the cruise shows etc but long rides are not for her.

My wife hates it. Doesn't understand it. And won't have anything to do with it.
I don't think she's ever even touched it, much less gone for a ride in it.
I think I'm being punished for something.

I too have a wife who has helped me work on mine on occasion when I needed
that extra hand. She enjoys riding in it and the outings we make with other
Cobra friends. She has never driven it (thinks she is too short at 5'2") to
reach the pedals. One of these days with the help from a cushion or so I would like to give her a shot at it. Her Miata is a 5 speed manual so shifting is no problem.

I would not say she hates it, but I wouldn't say she likes it either. First of all, it's a gas hog, second, it attracts too much attention, third, she doesn't understand the car obsession. But b/c she loves me, she tolerates the obsession. She was all for the project in the beginning until she found out how much time and energy it took. Still, I would not trade her in for anybody else.
The last time she took a ride with me was to the Sonoma Square GTG with the BACC earlier this year and she had a good time. I'm glad for that...so maybe there is still hope.
