Dove Performance or Performance Engineering?

I am looking for an FE engine for my new Cobra and was hoping to get some feedback on these two builders. They both seem to be very good but if anyone has some experience with either please let me know good or bad.
Thanks

A couple weeks ago I took delivery here in CA of a new Superformance with a 427 FE side oiler alum block from Eric at Performance Engr in Ross, OH.

Eric built the engine and did the install.

Eric and his guys are the best. That engine runs like a scared rabbit and looks awesome. Those guys really know their business, that's why I went all the way to Ohio for the car and engine.

Here is a link to some picts:

Another thumbs up for Eric at Performance Engineering. I was going to source my engine locally, but after visiting his shop and wasting a LOT of his time, I purchased my 418W from him. He nailed the specs based on my responses.

Had Jim Dove build an aluminum 488" stroker FE back in '92-'93. Bad to the bone, very reliable. Installed it in ERA #163, replacing a 428 Cobra Jet. It had so much power, I had to custom fit a watts link kit from Contemporary. Jim was great to work with, and gave me an excellent product. That was a long time ago for the aluminum FE.

You could read this years Engine Masters, didn't look to good for the Dove crew.

Eric is awesome

I had Eric build my first Cobra engine, a 427 Windsor Stroker, just a brute and reliable engine. Three Cobras later Eric is now building me a 331 Stroker with about 500 ponies.

I recommend him really highly.

I have a Performance Engineering 302 in my GT40. It has been bullitproof despite my constant tinkering with it.

Dove is as cheap as they come. If they can find a way to save a nickel without you noticing, they'll do it.

First hand experience on this one and it has nothing to do with them building an engine for me.

Eric built the engine in my SPF back in 2000 and it has been flawless.

My last SPF had a 418W that won the chassis dyno contest at the Spring Fling that year, beating a couple of well know member's FE motors :D

The head gaskets both went after 2000 miles, Eric replaced them both no charge while I waited. No questions or complaining or blaming from Eric, he took care of me.

I would recommend him, no questions.

My 488" Dove Aluminum High Rise, S/O, dry-sump stroker from 15 years ago is still awesome. Modex billet crank, Arias pistons, Carrillo rods, Comp cam, now with stack injection....has been bullet-proof. If they saved a few pennies along the way, I don't where.

Engine one thing, company owner anoother thing

Eric is perhaps the most unselfish, caring and ethical person in the business. Have been doing business with him for over 5 years and you could not pry me away.

Highly recommend his advice and service. A lot of people just want to take your money, he advises what is the best bank for yours, if you need it.

This is a more recent action. Like maybe the last few years or so.
