Default Timing Question

Okay Experts, I need your opinion. I have a 427 sbf with twm fuel injection, afr 205 heads, .600 cam, and 10.5 compression. Eric at Performance Engineering built my motor but could not properly tune it because he was not familiar with the FAST engine management system. He was able to complete a engine stand pull with it extremely rich. It hit 540hp with the timing at 34.
After installing the engine I was able to locate a tuner nearby. The tuner completed load testing throughout the rpm range and then performed a few pulls. The best was 430 rwhp with the timing set at 30. He told me that drivability and long-term performance that the timing at 30 would be better. I just wanted to get the expert's opinion because this tuner is used to working with modular motors. I just want to pull everything out of my motor, however, don't want to push it to the extreme to decrease the life of the motor. What would you guys do?

without being there its hard to give anything but generalizations. the rich condition on the first setup probably allowed the 34 deg timing without
detonating but when setup the second time the timing at 30 allowed for
the type of fuel you have to not detonate. generally stroked motors do not
like a lot of timing the 30 deg he recommends sounds like it is real. you may
be able to tweak another 1 or 2 degrees but with pump gas may chisel away
at your pistons. it sounds like your tuner knows what he's doing.

enjoy
Fred

Roush also recommends 31 to 35 but after discussing they really lean towards the 31 degrees. How much do you gain per degree of advance? I still have never floored mine in second past 5000 rpm for fear the rear tires were breaking loose, so I could not use any more power and to be honest I have to much if that is possilbe, but is does run like a dream when you drive it like a "normal" person.
