Fuel pump recommendation
I currently have a blue holley electric fuel pump part#12-802-1 and am thinking about replacing it with the Holley hp series part #hly-12-125 because it is supposed to be better and quietier. Has anyone had experience or thoughts about the hp pump? Thanks, Chas

I did this exact swap when my blue one died. So far so good after about a year. It's much quieter but it is a little longer so make sure you have room if you go with it.

I finally installed a mechanical pump and I am so happy. No more pump noise! I tried 2 different pumps a Holly and a carter both boasting Quiet and they were anything but.
An in the tank pump is quiet, can you make that happen?

Thanks everybody for your replies.
Traveller-I am not having problems but I am trying get it quieter
Tim-glad to hear you had a good experience because that convinces me to go that way
Jams-I am looking for an easy fix and the HP pump seems good. I have the standard B&B tank and don't know anything about putting an in tank pump from scratch.

I've been through Holley blacks and blues and finally threw them all out and went with an Aeromotive pump and regulator. Never looked back.

On my previous Unique, the electric fuel pump was very loud and it was mounted to the chassis - without a rubber pad between the pump and the chassis. Installing the pad / damper - quieted the pump noise significantly. Rick

I dont think much about fuel pumps since I ditched my Holley blue for a mechanical. A local builder, Joe Lapine, once told me he would never put an external electric fuel pump in a street rod, race only. I think he was concerned with safety and reliability for the street. If the engine stops, the fuel stops, no manual or pressure switches required. I took his advice and switched to mechanical and it has been a plus. No noise, one less thing to debug.
Aeromotive pumps are supposed to be good, and Barry Grant as well.

Just installed two Holley red pumps on the GT40. They're mounted to the rear bulkhead, which is directly behind the seats but in the engine compartmet. I used rubber grommets for noise isolation, limiting noise to a reassuring purr. Like to hear the pumps.  However, if they are mounted directly to the body . . . lots of noise.
