mike, there was a CCX on ebay this week that looked like a nice car. Bidding just ended, $35,702 which didn't hit reserve. Blue with white stripes, 427 SO, 15" and 17" pin drive wheels. The car is in Dane Wi, and the phone # is 608-849-9878. I'm not connected to the car other than I am also interested in CCX cars. Might be worth a call.

Jeff and Dave, your cars are beautiful, as are most of the CCX examples out there. Your butt is definitely tucked down over the wheels as it should be BUTT that is not the typical look you see with most of the Contemporary cars. I have read that the front and rear flares on the cars were modified by Contemporary to give a more "radiused" look. We had a fun thread a few years back about the perky butt issue and one CCX owner said that with a change of springs in the rear a big improvement in the stance could be realized. Note also the distance between the bottom of the door opening and the top of the sidepipes and compare for instance against the Dick Smith 198 car that you referenced.

I have a nice CCX for sale if you are still looking you can see it here. I can be reached at Jswilson87@comcast.net. I have the full windshield on now and use the winscreen at the track, it only takes 10 min to change it. I like the car but selling to get a race car as my son is ready to move up from carts.

Just as a follow up to this post (Disclaimer: I am not related to the seller, nor do I have a stake in this sale), I saw this car up close and personal when it was for sale at the dealership listed above. I found it to be one superb Contemporary and only wished the dealer and I could have come to terms at that time.....You want a "mean CCX" just like you once had, this is the car for you. Again I wish the funds where there for me to buy it, as it would already be mine...Sadly, unless the seller was willing to take my current unfinished FFR, Rev War Musket, and vintage coin collection for it, it's just not in the cards for me at this time .

Hello Guys,

Quick questions about CCX3-3753, is the hood scoop correct for a race replica? Sure looks like a nicely prepped Contemporary. I'm guessing it would hit mid 10's the quarter mile?

Scoop is a little high for a replica, however, a change of air cleaner and you could put a stock height hood scoop right back on it........That was what I had planned to do. As for the 1/4 mile, sorry, not my thing as I'm a road racer through and through

Thanks for the nice comments Bill. I did not buy the car but traded a Vintage race car for it, sorry I got to it before all of your vintage items sold!

I did have the car at the drag strip last week and turned a 10.87 before they kicked me out for not having the correct safety gear for a 10 sec. car. I am not a 1/4 mile guy, just a curious road racer.

I was impressed how the car planted, my chassis guy who did a upgaded roll bar for me (who builds mostly drag cars) says it would coat 15-20k to reproduce the rear end. Donavan motorsports did a awesome job, it has 0 body roll on the road course.

Thanks again for the comments Bill, if not for my son I would keep the car.

According to the track I was at, I needed a proper roll bar (it will pass now that it has been replaced) and arm restraints or a window net to keep arms inside the car. I have arm restraints that attach to the five point harness that I used in my last car, I just did not have them with me. In any case a bolt on roll bar that is not been tested for .120 thickness gets you kicked out.

First let me say I do not have any first hand exp. with any of these as an owner, other than I have had a chance to drive both an ERA and a SPF but every time I see an ERA I Dont kown what does it but I just go crazy for the shape of the body. It just looks so RIGHT.

Good Evening Kzof ,

ERA was a top choice when I'd purchased before. But the economy was much better in 1999(2000?) and ERA's were MUCH more money than I wanted to spend. Now it's a toss up and boiling down to the quality of the motor's build, the cars detail's and last but not least the value represented between the two and it's price. When you're going fast no one can check the paint, so motor is first .

Rims are 15"....x10.5 on the rear and 8.5 on he front.

ERA is the Cadillac of the glass replica's followed closely by Contemporary. Superformance, while a great car and close aesthetically is not in a well executed ERA's or Contemporary's league IMHO. Also I wouldn't put much weight on the "round" tube frame of the CCX in deciding between the ERA and Contemporary. It is nowhere similar to the original design beyond using some round tubing in the main rails.
