Question Jack Elder's 289 Aurora Cobra

I am the owner of the late Jack Elder's 289 Aurora Cobra. I purchased the car in 1999 approx. 6 years after the car was totalled in a tragic accident in Detroit Michigan.
The car is now fully restored to a level that Mr. Elder would be proud of but I require some final documentation to have the car plated for the street.
I am eager to hear from anyone who may have known Jack Elder. Mr. Elder was a long time member of the Michigan Chapter of SAAC. I also must contact the Insurance Co. that wrote the car off.
If anyone may have known Mr. Elder, I am very interested to hear from you.
I am sure that any car enthusiast can understand the frustration of spending 9 years on your dream car then not be able to drive it!
Any assistance anyone can offer is much appreciated.
Thanks

if it was totaled what are you doing with it? any car that was a write off should be destroyed and not ever licenced for the street.

Now if that were the case I would imagine there would be a few less "real
ones" on the street today. He should be able to get a salvage title for it.

Cobratoys, Did you by the car from an Insurance company, or a private person. In michigan the insurance co. would have given the buyer a salvage title. If you bought the can from a private person they should have given you a salvage or regular title. Jim aurora car #128

The car was written off more so due to the fact that the Insurance Co. really had no idea where to start to have it repaired as the Manufacturer no longer exists. The car simply flipped over on its top and slid into a tree. Apart from from some minor side frame damage and a lot of cosmetic damage, the car really survived well. I have the "salvage "title currently and in Canada I must have a structural certification done which I feel will be no problem. Unfortunately, a bunch of original Insurance documents must accompany the certification. My dilemma is that I do not have any information on the Ins. Co.

These documents are from New York State and will differ in other states.

I'm looking at a michigan salvage title and the ins. co. name is on it. Plus in the top corner hand written are some numbers(maybe claim number). This is fairly standand on most salvage titles in most states.
