Default Cobra's In Yellowstone

Yesterday we were returning home from a week in Utah with the Outlaws. I pleaded with my wife if we could return home by way of Yellowstone, its just two hours and about 20 miles difference in the trip. She finialy agreed. Yes!we are on our way Eight hours into the trip, we entered West Yellowstone. We stoped at a gas station to get the needed junk food to finish the trip. I steped out of the car and I could hear this loud rumble, I thought what could this be. It sounded like a P51 Mustang doing a run-up for take off. No it wasn't an airplane but three COBRA'S making their way down town. I thought to myself what a great trip through the park, not only do we have Buffalo, Elk, and Bears, we also have the rumble of pure power making their way through the winding roads of Yellowstone.
We counted at least 10 cars all together through out the park. Where were you guys going! I felt sorry for those in West Yellowstone, that cold rain was comming down hard. Two years ago on July 4 we were in Cooke City on motorcycles and got caught in a snow storm, for about 20 miles. It was wet and cold.

Nmayes,
That was us!
The Utah Cobra Club was there on our 3rd annual summer cruise. We left Utah on Wed. and went thru Bear Lake, Grand Targee, Jackson Hole (I got hit there) and then into Yellowstone. We were heading out to Idaho falls when the rain hit. Stopped in Montpilier, ID for a Car show for a couple hours, then continued to the Salt Lake area.
We had 19 Cobras there. We were in smaller groups to try and not cause too much of a traffic jam.
It was a great trip for all of us.
I logged 1080 miles in 4 days. Others did more.

nmayes:

You should have ran over and greeted us! Soggy and all, it's always nice to run into other members of the "club".

As Roy mentioned, there were a whole pack of us scattered throughout Yellowstone. Our group was headed into Mammoth Hot Springs when the rain first started. We hung out there for a while until the weather improved and then headed out to the West Entrance and the into West Yellowstone. Little did we know what awaited us near the West Entrance...a DOWN POUR.

As you probably know, you don't get too wet as long as you're moving and a decent clip. My wife and I stayed pretty dry, even in the deluge.

And I don't think that Roy enjoyed Jackson too much...some guy in a big SUV backed into his car when we were leaving Bubbas after eating some BBQ for lunch.

But what a great trip: Bear Lake, Grand Targhee, Swan Valley, Yellowstone, the Tetons; not bad scenery at all!

1108 miles of fun for me and my wife.

Can't wait until next year.

What?

No images?

Let's see:
- 21 roadsters
- buffalo
- eagles
- water falls
- Old Faithful
- Hot Springs
- elk
- wolves
- dramatic mountains
- peaceful lakes

There ought to be some pictures to prove it happened...

Well let's try posting a couple pics.
Here we are at the Bear Lake Overview

Note Yellow Corvete! That was suppose to be a polished Kirkham. (Must have used the wrong polish)

A few of us in Yellowstone

And of course, Grand Canyon of Yellowstone

Here's more proof...

A pic of west side of the Tetons from the top of the Grand Targhee ski area:

A shot of the Tetons that my wife took while heading into Yellowstone:

A group shot with a pretty spectacular background:

And a Cobra on our tail while cruising in Yellowstone:

Nice shots. Sorry for the guy who got an SUV backed into him.
You would think that someone who sees cars like that around would be extremely careful.

Dex...

Wow, "Now that's what I'm talking about!" Hehehehe.

Really great shots you guys! Driving in that kind of open scenery is what it's all about, right there. Amazing.

Nice pics. I keep saying that one of these years I am going to go to Yellowstone for vacation.

Roy & Jim,
Those are some nice pictures! I feel sorry for Roy getting hit by that suburban. Suburbans like that here in Wyoming have forgotten to License or insure their vehicles. I hope that's not the case here. Next year you guys might think about taking your tour to Cody Wyoming through the Bear Tooth pass and into Red-Lodge Montana. Great scenery and winding roads. But it gets a little cold, and sometimes it snows in July.

namayes:

I thought that Wyoming had better drivers than the one encountered by Roy, but then again, it happened in Jackson, not a "typical" Wyoming community. (I was born in and spent the first 42 years of my life in Wyoming.)

And you're right: Beartooth Pass would be awesome in a Cobra. It'd be pretty awesome in a Yugo, too.

You guys must have scared the bejesus out of the bison that typically roam the roads.
