roller for 35K? no way, there was a freak situation about 2 months ago where that happened and it was determined that was what the dealer paid, but a roller with twin stripes, ceramic coating on side pipes, glove box, both steering wheels, install kit, is every bit of $39k after alot of massaging with the dealer. This is a running and driving car. Most dealers charge 2k for the engine and trans install. You could not build a new spf with a 351 (reptuble builder) for less than 50K that is why the dynamic deal was sweet.

If you get it for 36.6 you will never loose money on the car and make some in the end. You list that car on Cobra country for $43500 and it will be gone in days. Ebay is always the worst place to sell and for some reason club cobra does not fetch the premium price either.

valve covers = 100, oil pan = 100, pressure wash engine, detail body and carriage and you will have less than $400 and the car will be immaculate.

Since it's at almost 36k, don't see how I could disagree. But there are still rollers being listed for around 35k, that are still not sold. Not sure of options, either way it's a fair deal.

58 minutes left, a guy 2.4 miles from my house sells a "used" spf for 57500 in 2 days with back up offers, here is a guy at 36K, there is no ryme or reason to this market, granted the guy had a 427 roush but a roush is not 21K

This car is a good deal IF it's registered correctly in the state of MI. I haven't seen anyone from Michigan comment about whether "65 Cobra" is the legal designation for a Cobra replica in MI.

BTW - madmaxx - No rhyme or reason needed...sounds like a "fire sale."

Just got back to the computer, at least there was some sanity at $39,650 for a spf with generic engine and 9K miles. Still a great deal which I do not think the new owner will ever loose money on. If it were have gone for 36K I would have been scratching my head.

The large pictures on this website are still too small to allow someone to really see what's up. Cobracountry allows nice large photos, for a fee of course.

In reality, due to cobracountry using frames and thus doing piss poor in the search engine rankings they should be worse. Having all the cars on the same page is also another major no no SEO wise. Pages should be around 900 to 1000 chars in length.

Clubcobra could be better, if they changed their url's to be search engine friendly and allowed larger 'large' images.

It was a steal. That's reality in 2008. Many used the appreciation in real estate to finance this hobby and the bubble has burst. Smoke em if you've got em because we have hit bottom.

The good news is there is no where but up from here.

Don't forget the secondary bubble will burst again in 5-7 years when many in our group begin hitting their 60's.

OK...question: When do you guys get the car inspected?
These Ebay listings always have the "as is blah blah". And here you are in the middle of the last minute feeding frenzy...going after the deal of the century...how do you know you are not buying a $39000 car that needs $5000 in engine work? Are you relying on the honesty of the Seller? How do you determine when you need, or don't need an inspection prior to bidding on Ebay? Or is this just part of the risk taking process of "buyer beware"?

and you will not get the "deal". As always there is risk with reward. I would shoot the ebay seller a pm asking for phone number and then inspect from there. If no response do not bid.

On the ebay page you'll see their is an inspection service available, with photos and such. I'm not sure about the service, but you certainly could find a reputable shop where the car is located. Posting to clubcobra for any background is good and/or suggestions for a shop in the area, but there's nothing like seeing it in person !!

You probably would need to schedule an inspection the minute the item is listed. the downside is that you could spend a bunch of money for inspections on cars you don't end up wanting to buy or winning the bid on.

I agree with Mike, you either need to see a car in person or have someone (like a fellow CC member) vouch for it.

If you are lucky the Cobra you are considering buying is known to others on
CC. I consider myself very fortunate with my purchase of #142 in May.
The first time I saw the Cobra was when I picked it up and it exceeded my
expectations to say the least. If the car had been an unknown I am sure I
would have tried to find someone to look at it for me before pulling the
trigger. If that weren't possible I doubt if I would have bid - too many horror
stories of people being burned on evilbay.
As it were I had a very enjoyable drive down to Montgomery from Dallas and
it performed flawlessly. Love that 42 gallon tank!

Good luck in the search - it only took me a few years to find mine, but well
worth the wait. Now I have a Cobra at each house so I don't suffer from
withdrawal while at either place. Life is good.

I actually talked to the owner....he was willing to pull it for me at a set price. The set price was less than what he sold it for on EBAY so I'm glad i told him to keep the auction going. I didn't have my financing in line yet, but asked him about having the car inspected. He had no problems with it. But the correct answer was given....buy one from Cobra Country and not Ebay. Although I have found guys willing to work with you outside the bidding process. The chips just have to fall in place.

The poster of the ad needs to mark them sold, and clubcobra needs to frequently remove the sold items. Much of what's in the for sale section is sold. It's annoying and makes the for sale section less valuable in general.
