Default Cobra - High Speed Civil Disobediance

So we were passing through Colorado and started hearing rumors about a group of Cobra drivers making high speed passes on open range roads.

The story has it that this group in Walden hit 153 and then 157 in different sections of the flat lands road.

Crazy suckers, excessive speed on public two lane highways is never a good idea.

Very Good Doo

Still upset because you can’t get through a grocery store parking lot without totaling your 931 and now your taking pot shots at those having a little fun on the open ranges of Colorado…. Real good….

I agree D00. Leave it to a few bad apples Lets keep the high speed on the track where it belongs. This is just shocking!!

Fun! That's dangerous. At least when I wreck my car, people walk away unscathed. You guys are giving the rest of us a bad name. If something were to happen, you know the news would scorn the cobras in Denver just like they scorned pitbulls. Keep it up Aylsworth. Damn you! Damn you all to hell! Especially that Flying Dutchman.

McVette, but long live the cobra.

Leave us cobra guys alone McD00. Take your antics to your 'vette forum where they would be happy to have someone like you.

Enjoy your new roof?

R??? AKA RonNichols....

I'll have you know I am a LONG time Cobra owner.... It was unfortunate that faced with hard times I had to trade my beloved 931SPF for a new roof. But good luck for me I could buy a cheap POS vette to satisfy my meager need for speed..... Yes the Vette is a POS, but maybe some day when my luck changes, I hope to own another Cobra... In the mean time, please do not give me a hard time just because I can't afford a my Cobra dream car.....

Excaliber,

These guys ventured to Colorado from various parts of the US for a SuperCruise. They're testing their cars at timberline and racing around canyon roads. Does that actually sound like fun to you?

At any rate, I'll trade you lives. You relocate here to Detroit, and I'll retire to the Kailua area. Sound fair? Otherwise the alternative is to relocate to Carmel with McVette.

It seems that the guys who want to screw around on public roads (which makes it tough for guys who don't do that) are afraid of going to the track. When your on public roads you seem fast next to grandma's sedan......put the car on track and have a stop watch taking the resposibility of whether you are fast or not is a different story....not so easy to be fast when you are around other people that are trying to go quick.....and safer and all that as well....

There's a reason why they call the internet and it's content the disinformation super highway. It's posts like these.
I heard from a friends second cousin's ex-wife's brother in law's youngest sister that a cobra was seen doing 323 mph over Monarch Pass in Georgia last week. Boy, I hope those folks don't get in an accident because I'm afraid my insurance rates will go up if any adjusters are monitoring this forum.
When you have some objective proof of your claim then come back and post again or did you just joint the forum so you could stir things up (July of 08?).
I just got back from the Colorado cruise and that group, at least, didn't evidence any unsafe or foolish behavior during the almost 1000 miles covered by the cruise. Courtesy and thoughtful behavior seemed to be the rule rather than the exception.

I'm sure the roads were clear to go if they were opening it up a bit. I don't care what I'm driving, when I come up on a flat, straight road as far as I can see, and no oncomming traffic, I'll open that baby up to see how fast it really is, then gently back it down. Haven't some of you guys ever driven across a desert befor?

Don C......Geez, we only have 13 cars on the SuperCruz and it is still going on. We held a car show at the request of the town of Walden just tonight (Friday). I don't remember you being there. The fun continues and we are having a ball. There may have been a spot where we exceeded the posted speed limit but by no more than 100 MPH.

Exactly - pick your spot. I remember being in Death Valley and cresting a ridge. I could see for 3 miles down into the valley and back up the other side. Nothing but an empty black ribbon painted on the desert... Just pick your spot and be as safe as you can. Some of those guys in CO are real assholes - and I am proud to know them...

You guys are now on notice and your man cards have all been suspended for:

1. Not breaking the law and having fun with your car
2. You have girly avatars

This same thing happened to me on another forum. (where the moderator refuses to approve my registration) Some elitist, self righteous snob had a problem with the way I was driving. I was actually on the track by the way. But my point is, what is the motivation behind someone who trashes another on the internet for something that they didn't even see or were not even involved in? In my case I don't even know the guy. Does it make them feel good about themselves or do they just like passing judgment on others. Maybe it is a jealousy thing. I'll bet that this is the same type of guy that hides in the back of the room at parties and wouldn't have the stones to even bring it up if you were face to face. (This isn't meant to be about anyone here, just a general pet peeve)

I say let these guys run as hard as they want. Be careful and respect other drivers but have fun!

Well...Why own a Cobra if you don't want to "blow it out " every now and then.

I was in Williams , AZ for the "Route 66 Fun Run" this year and cruised with the Arizona Cobra Club. Prior to the run west on Hwy 40, we met at a Denny's to line up.
In addition to our group of knarly cobra owners, there were a large group of Corvett guys..they were all lined up for the run. The Corvett guys were very neat, had matching outfits, cute little hats and very tity cars.
The Cobra guys were all over the place, no particular style of dress, fat, skinny and some needed to shave and most were driving their own builds. We lined up and took off, after about two miles on the road and traveling about 100 mph, my wife commented to me, "this feels like a NASCAR race...what fun".
Anyway, we never saw the Corvett guys after we left the Denny's.
I really do appreciate those that worry about the CHP, our insurance rates, safety, track experience and how were percieved... but please lighten up.

Cranky Bill
