C6 is a very good trans. The knock on them have been that they are heavier and consume more HP than the C4's. For street use, I think the C6 is a very good choice, rugged and reliable. I used a C6 in a 1965 Galaxie that had a transplanted 460; ran like a top and never an issue.

A couple of the people around here have the C-6 in their Cobras and they work great. Especially when they drive them to San Francisco, as the hill hold or whatever it is they had beefed up really helps when they had to stop on Telegraph Hill going up.

VINCENT,
I like my C-6 a lot.
Actually, I like my 4th C-6 a lot
It was built by Carl Rossler ( http://www.rosslertrans.com/ ) and has outlasted the other three by many miles, both on the track and on the street.
It probably has around 15,000 miles of use and abuse. If you're going to the track for a lesson be sure you have an oversized cooler and a dipstick that positively locks onto its tube.
It's helpful to have a relatively low stall converter to minimize heat generation unless you have one of those itsy-bitsy small blocks
As CS is supposed to have said, "why row when you can have an engine?"
I put in the '65 Mustang shifter as did the originals that came with C-6s. It looks like it belongs there.
For track use, I have to overcome extreme linearity - not the car, me! My brother in law once told me I could win the "can't walk and chew gum" award and I think he nailed it. Heel-and-toe is not for me.
I can remember "right foot=GO", "left foot=STOP" and hands turning the wheel to the right or left. Anything beyond that it'd take me four forevers to learn.
I see where some pro racers (drag racers long ago, talking about roundy-round and some road racers) are switching to automatics for some serious racing. Also power steering, but that's another discussion....
Enjoy your automatic!
Tom

Boy do I hear that. I probably shoulda did a auto, maybe I wouldn't have smashed the crap out of my cobra in a parking lot. Wasn't my fault I just panicked and with the pedals being so offset I hi the wrong one. What a nightmare! I never have been very coordinated My therapist said to just let it go...

have used the c-6 numerous times, small block and big block, cant beat the cost and beefyness. i have a beefed up AODE behind my fe the overdrive is
sweet at .67:1, costs more than a c-6 but i would not be willing to give up my OD to save a couple hundred bucks. FB performance, guarantees the trans's
in writing for racing!!!! will handle (as they advertise) 1200 HP.
been in the car over 2 years with no issues.

I have a PA performance C-4 super comp no brake. Guaranteed for life up to 1000 HP.
The only complaint I have is no OD like FWB has. Highway miles over 65 MPH is too high for extended periods of time.
It's great for cruizin' and drag runs though.
Just get the right torque converter. I have a 2800-3000 stall in mine built locally by Alan Pope.
I am looking at a Gearvendor OD/UD unit now.
Just another option.

Hey Dan,
My C-6 is fine at highway speeds as you probably are aware
I have a 2.88 rear axle ratio. You might be able to go as low as 2.75 if you have the Ford differential? It would make highway cruising quite nice and would be easier/cheaper than Gear Vendors.
BTW I checked Gear Vendors myself and their unit is longer than my driveshaft!

I ran mine with a 3.27, and it was not bad but with big block power you can definitely go to 3.07 or 2.87 and not give up anything. First gear will stilll be more than enough to break things.
