CC devotees,
I would like to begin dialog about the event and thank all that came out to support our hobby. There was a great gathering of cars, vendors, people and events. Thunderbolt is a great location that will be discussed in the future for a long time to come. I am out of picture space so I can't post visuals at this time
Here is my report:
Thursday a rag tag group ventured down out of Southern NH. I of course decided to experience the full wrath of mother nature w/o a top. Yes, I did get my hair wet at least what little I have. The weather reports looked bleek for Friday and Sat with a great day Sunday. We all prayed to the weather gods and ended up with three days of hot dry fun. I must say it was a great time meeting and conversing with so many folks.
A Special Award, in my opinion, goes to Kei and Miki Linuma. The sent their CSX8000 car to the mainland from HI. They drove across the states ending in Maine for lobster then drove down to NJ. Yes, they did track the car and with an unfortunate oil filter rupture caught it on fire.... Kei was unhurt and thankfully so! Thanks to a great team of people they were fixed up and back on the road by Sunday morning. Miki gets the "Women of the Year" award! They are both great people and are what this whole hobby is about = great people.
The group of people which drove down out of NH were the best and I am very gald to know all of you!
This was perhaps one of the best car related times of my life. There were 8-9 original CSX cars, a huge Mustang contingent and GREAT racing. The last event Sunday was the Vintage race which included two crazy wild GT350's and a CSX cont Coupe in the lead. U.S. Nordic brought race ready 3000 series Cobra and a GT40 P1115 = Simply awsome
Special thanks to all making this a great event:
Nick and Bonnie for allowing us to park in their area!
Dave for bringing the garage in the event we had issues
Dan for the weather forecast and GPS
Mike and Donna for support and traffic updates along the way
Ron Richards
Fran Kress
Jim (sweet FIA)
Jeff Burgy
ERA Peter P
Steve J
John McMahon
Kei and Miki Linuma
All the CCX guys that made it! Jim B, Don S, Rich C.....
and Don Osborne for making the trip over in his fantastic MKIV......
It sounds like SAAC and SAI have patched up their differences and will be moving into a bright future together. They have a great leader and with open dialog should be able to make future years the best ones yet.

Met your wife, but had limited time while not on track when I walked back nobody was around except for her. Maybe next year when I spend at least two full days there.

Amazing! I must agree with Jeff in that this was without a doubt the best automotive experience of my life.
My hat is off to Jeff for the absolutely hair raising drive down in his trusty CCX. There were times I was praying he would step on the brake pedal so I could see him through the torents of water falling from the sky and lightening dancing on all directions. If any of you have seen the Gumball Rally, you might relate to what a Cobra looks like plowing through a couple inches of standing water. Truly a tribute to Jeff's nerves and Goodyear Billboards! Despite it all we finally arrived at the Hotel, Jeff emerging from his car with a smile and his sense of humor intact. Kudos to you Pal! What a drive!
The rest of the weekend was awesome weather wise, met some great people, saw some of the best racing I have seen in a long time and even have brother Dan looking for a Cobra! Doesn't get much better than that!
Nick, Bonnie, Mike, Donna, Jeff and Dan... awesome to spend the weekend with you all! Already counting down the days until next year!

Kei has a 100,000 miles on his other Cobra, a Mid States. It too has been cross country, a couple of times. Kei and Miki are the most 'hard core' Cobra folks I've ever met!

Jeff -
It was really nice to get to meet you and Dave. Sorry that I didn't get time to stop by and talk some more, and get more pictures of your cars. They were keeping me pretty busy with the car shows.
That's a real sweet ride you've got there. My hat's off to you (and Kei) for DRIVING the car to the event - that's the way we did it in the old days - lots more adventure that way!
See you next year!

I believe Kei had his Midstates at the event, not the CSX. I was with some friends that had their Midstates and they know Kei and his wife. He told me it was a replica, so I guess it was the Midstates.
Jeff G.,
It was nice meeting your crew, wish I could have stayed longer at the event...like all three days!

JM,
No, they had their 8000 series car with the funky hood vent there, not the midstate...You and I even walked by and commented about it......

I think the Mid States is currently in Hawaii, all though, it is hard to keep track of which car he has where at any given time. Yup, the CSX to SAAC for sure. It wouldn't surprise me if Kei referred to his CSX8000 as a 'replica', or even a 'hot rod'. He is very loyal Shelby follower, but he still calls it like he see's it, and offers no apologies!
Many, the times our little group has debated this, long into the night, while the women (wisely) make themselves scarce as the intensity reaches a fever pitch...

Jeff,
I didn't see you, but I saw a contemporary with gold centered wheels at one point on Sunday. Someone with another contemporary nearby was offering to let my 5 year old son Greg sit in his car for a picture opportunity, but Greg did not want sit in the car.

This is one of my good friends Mark S. from the Garden State Region Mustang club, his father (who had the blown and heavily modified 93 GT next to it) was the original owner. Sadly on Saturday he kept a SAAC tradition going as he blew his transmission (again).......

You know I was thinking if you drive your Cobra from California to New Jersey somewhere around Nebraska you start thinking, "Screw this period correct stuff, my feet are burning up." That's when you stop at the local hardware store and pickup whatever kind 'vent' they got and get to work putting it in.

Was there Saturday and did inspect more than a few rivet patterns.
Chatted with Amy at the Shelby display, Billy Andrews @ HRE, Peter P @ ERA and others including Jeff B and Ron.
Alot to see. It was a good day. Jay Bentley's Cobra is awesome BTW. What a beauty! Thanks for bringing it down Jay.

Evan,
You should have stopped by the tech and main race aisle area behind tech (where I was camped out) and said hello...........
Bill S.
PS: Which car did you end up bringing down, the Ford GT or the CSX4000?

Bill: Neither. Drove the Carrera. It looked a little out of place parked in the paddock surrounded by all that American Muscle.
