I have signed up for the Knapp Vineyards Rally on Friday and will be parking my Cobra in the reserved spots after the rally and after the two laps on the original course. Unless it rains, of course. I also have tickets for Sat. and Sun. compliments of my bank but will probably not drive the Cobra those days as I am a new owner and don't want to leave it out of my sight. I live 18 miles away from the Glen so it is an easy drive for me. If you have a Cobra what color is it? I will look for you. Are you doing one of the rallies?

MIne is red with ghost stripes. BDR with side pipes. I haven't been assigned a group number yet. Maybe we can hook up at Seneca Lodge. I'm always up for a cold one. Can't drink too much Fri. as I will be driving and my wife doesn't want to drive the Cobra (that doesn't upset me) but Sat. and Sun. she will be the DD in her Mellow Yellow Mini. My cell number is (607) 259-0981 but I never use it. I keep it in the Cobra in case I have to call AAA. I will turn it on on Fri. though in case someone wants to get together. I haven't done a rally before and my wife (who doesn't know left from right most of the time - this isn't a slam against her as I love her dearly, it is the truth) is the navigator. Guess I will cheat and bring the Magellan as I imagine we will get lost more than once. Sounds like fun. Hoping for some good weather.

I'll be there with the usual entourage of slackers, jackers and fools.

I know Jim very well as he helped me out very much getting the car going and it was very much appreciated. I will check with Jim next week to see if he is going up Thurs. night and, if so, being the nice guy he is he will introduce me to all of you. I get out of work at 4:30 (I will have 5 work days left after next Thurs. as I am retiring) so I can go home, change my clothes, get the Cobra out (weather permitting) and be there by 5:30 or so. Add me to the fools list but will soon will be a slacker too.

JB - Good talking to you today. There is a "little" comfort knowing a brother is having some of the same aches and pains
Don - Thanks for the offer!!! It will have to be another time, though. Mary will be at Robert Packer Hospital on Thursday for more tests. Her team of doctors are hoping to find a way to help with her illness, but it looks like we have tried everything. She has been doing better this week, though (the grandkids are a GREAT help in keeping her morale up!)
I am signed up for Glenora Friday, for the usual wild run with the Cobras and GT350 Mustangs. I may or may not be there, depending on how it goes with Mary. First things first . If I am not there, have a GREAT time!

JIm, the best to you and Mary. Yes, grandkids do cheer you up, but they are also tiring (we have two).
I will catch you some other time for lunch/dinner. Hope to see you Friday but I know you have your priorities in line.

Here are a couple of videos taken the same time as the one above, from INSIDE my SPF. The first video is taken just past the old start/finish line, then into the first turn and up the hill of the original course.

The second video is at the top of the old course, after crossing the railroad tracks.

JB, I think your cars is shown in the first video, a couple of cars ahead of me on the first video. Behind me was a Shelby GT500, that tried to keep up with us on the first turn (you can hear his tires squeal, but you can also hear that great sounding solid lifter 427...)
Always great fun downtown for the events at the old course. And don't miss the action at the track, either. It a relatively "laid back" event for spectators, and you can walk into the garage to check out the cars there. Always an awesome selection of vintage race cars at the track.
This year Triumph is the featured marque. I wouldn't be surprised if many of us haven't owned one sometime in the past

WOW! What a great 4 days. Racked up 800 trouble free miles on mine, but my buddy Kenny blew the motor on his again!
It was really nice to see so many friends and make new ones, like the SPF guys from Ohio. Don Morse it was a pleasure meeting you and your bride up at Seneca Lodge, and Thank you again for those tickets.
I was chatting with Mike Stott and Bill Murry and had them sign one of the tickets. Unfortunately, The gt40 got stuffed into a tire wall on the first lap Saturday (
Jim Kellogg, Always a pleasure, and am Really curious to see the footage you are working on.
Watkins Glen is my favorite weekend of the year.

NP on the tickets. They were given to me and we weren't going up Sat. so I passed them on. We also had tickets for Sunday and planned all week to attend but Sun. was a crazy day and, unfortunately, I finally decided at 11:30there was no way possible we could make it.
We had an absolute blast on Fri. on the Knapp Vineyards rally. The route Doug selected for the morning run was absolutely fantastic with all the curves, etc. I keep telling people you don't have to go fast to have fun. Just go into one of the many corners Doug picked out between 35 and 40 and come out of them at 75 - 80. A total thrill.
If anyone has a chance to sign up for this rally next year I would highly recommend it. Aside from a car full of bugs there are no negatives.

I was in my Beck 550 spyder replica for the Founders Tour event on Friday and had a blast. Got into the track thursday early to camp as pit "over crew" members which also got us into the drivers/crew party sat night. A lot of fun!
Friday in town is the bomb. I'm planning on taking the gt40 up there next year...

I was able to run the Glenora, and a couple laps of the old course. Always great fun, running the Cobra down the middle of Watkins Glen on the old course, with spectators lining both sides of the road. I was running about 5,000rpm in first, making lots of noise, and could still hear the crowd cheering :-)
Didn't stay all day, but was able to take some video of JB, Kenny and others as they went by just below Stone Bridge.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1Wr1XevAKY0
I also got a good photo of Kenny going by. If he wants a copy, let me know.
You can't see it in the YouTube video, but Kenny was smoking from the LH side pipe when he went by. Sounds like that might have been the beginning of something bad...
Sorry I couldn't get downtown for the festival. Wanted to catch up with/meet some of you guys. I headed home early to spend the rest of the day with the wife. We had a good evening together!
JB - I went up to the track Sunday around noon. You were headed the other way! Sorry I missed you.
Jim
