Default Rich Lacy's Last Run

We had the privilege of sharing yesterday afternoon with Rich when he dropped off our car and learned that this was his "last transport" run before retiring his transporter business.

We've had Rich transport several vehicles over the years and can state unequivocally that he is one of THE best in the business. The care, courtesy, efficiency and promptness are unparalleled.

Rich, if you read this, thanks for the wonderful service, for sharing a great afternoon and best of luck with your new venture.

Rich broke the news to me about 3 months ago. We had him scheduled to do our annual Ford GT Rally again...before we sent him our deposits he called and told us what was going on and to give us enough time to get other transportation set up.

Rich is a class act and really cares about the cars...its a shame that he couldn't continue the business .

THanks for everything Rich...we appreciate it.

We've used him as well and thought he provided excellent service. I'm sorry to see he has retired the business. Best of luck on whatever your next endeavor should be.

Rich went the extra mile for me when he delivered my car to me in Denver. He waited around for a number of hours at ERA while they finished it up and then pushed to get it to me at the time we had agreed to. He absorbed a couple of last minute delivery changes without a blink. A true class act.
Rich, you provided service that was truely outstanding and the community will miss you greatly. Good luck on your retirement, you've earned it.

Sad news indeed. Rich and his brother Doug are stand up guys. They delivered mine and I couldn't be happier. Good luck to them in retirement.

We miss Rich and Doug already. We had a car picked up on Saturday by another company and it was not the same.

We generally ship extra boxes with our cars as they roll out to their new owners and this was never a problem with the Lacy Bros.

We were talking about this with the new driver because they charge extra for boxes and mentioned that our "other company" did a great job handling the boxes etc... but unfortunately they were no longer delivering cars. The new guy had kind of a sneer in his voice and said, "I bet I know why... Damage huh???". Mary Kirkham was standing right there and said (with her wonderful southern accent which becomes much more pronounced when she is passionate about something) ,"There was no damage, they were wonderful with our cars. We much preferred to use them." It kind of took the wind out of the guys sails.

Best of luck to Rich and Doug.

One of our local "Aloha Cobra Club" members had made arrangements to have his Cobra shipped by Rich. Cancelled, sounds like the price of fuel was the deciding factor for Rich shutting down. I had planned to have my car shipped by Rich as well, guess I'll have to start looking for someone else, bummer...

When Rich delivered my car back in March he told me the fuel costs were really hurting him. We talked a bit at lunch and I found out he had quite a bit of history with Cobra's including working with Midstates I believe...

Unfortunatly a lot of smaller trucking companies have folded because the larger lines get better discounts on fuel with huge nationwide contracts and the little guys can't compete with that. Personally, I never questioned what Rich charged because from other's experiance with him I knew my car couldn't be in better hands. My experiance just reinforced what I already heard.

Best of luck, Rich. I'm sure you'll be setting a new standard in what ever your new venture is...

Sorry to hear Rich is retiring, when he delivered my car I felt like I made a friend, it will be hard to find someone who provided the customer service Rich did.

Here's the KEY. How many of us are willing to PAY for that extra service above and beyond what the competition will do it for? A few, but not the majority. It all comes down to a 'numbers game', there are simply not enough 'gear heads' willing to pay the extra dollars to get from point A to point B that Rich would be forced to charge to stay in business.

Another 'mom and pop' service/store bites the dust in favor of the large 'super size' Walmarts of the trucking industry. And so it goes...

Sad to hear this. Rich hauled ol #747 from Dallas to So Cal...in the dead of winter and over the New Year holiday. Outstanding service to my door...you won't get that from many of these national outfits. He is a class act and I wish him well.

Second that...

To avoid damage, Rich even lifted my engine by hand to put it on the hoist...

The industry/hobby has lost a great service provider, fortunately the friendship will always be there. Good Luck to you Rich and Doug in whatever you choose to do from here on out!

rich pulled his giant rig into our tiny cul-de-sac. it was about 9:00 pm. All the neighbors were asking what the F*@# was that. He had to pull one car off before i could see my kirkham for the first time. that was one great night.
good luck rich, you are one in a million.
