You can either leave them to a natural patina or you can paint the letters back on with a flexible paint.
Try a search on the subject and you should find several threads about it.

Redd,
Do a search on billboards and lettering and you will find a lot of information. I am one of those folks that "finished" my billboards. This is really personal preference, however I really like the way mine look now. I don't know if I will do it again, but for now they look great. The short story is you need to take off the paint (with something like goo be gone), then paint them with stencils (or by hand). If you need more details PM me.

Do NOT do one to see if you like it.

Man I hear THAT Jamo! My next set I'm just gonna let them age naturally. Do ONE letter and you just bought the whole project.

Just consider how out of place they'll look against your stone-scarred, tar and oil streaked vintage decals...

Oh I think they look great when done right like yours. I'm just a fat lazy basturd who prefers driving to waxin. Why do you think I never put any paint on my car?
But as Ernie also noted...it's like that chip commercial. You just can't do one and then change your mind.

I've heard a little about the Shelby/SPF dealer opening in Redwood City. Is this going to be part of Dynamic Auto West (Dennis Peck) of Reno? When are they going to open?
Interesting move. They'll get a ton of interest being in the Bay Area, but it's a pricey place to run a business. They're also selling directly into a market that has some pretty tough registration controls. It'll be great for Shelby and SPF owners who need parts or want to order an accessory.

Thanks Jeff! I use a white fabric pen that can be bought in any hobby shop (they are used to write on t-shirts, etc) It takes 2 pens to do all 4 tires.
