"Next Time" could be a challenge depending on how many return again. We were bummed you could not be there. This year we had 42 rooms in the block max, like you a small handful of folks had to cancel last minute due to economy/work situations. I checked today with the hotel. We are cleared to return in '09. Next year we'll get 50 rooms or so, max, at the group rate in the block. I think we both know what that means if the few that canceled this year return, and those who missed it want to go in '09.

It's going to be 1st come first served when the new announcement comes out on the WSCG group site for CH1 2009. People are already asking to reserve dates for next year to lock it in. It was very cool, and more like a nice place to vacation and you bring your Cobra along too.

Default Back to reality

Hello Will, unleaded only. Super-U is what we run, but some mix in av-gas or additives for extra smell benefits.

I gotta tell ya, every time we complain out here about traffic and costs in CA, it's times like this which are PRICELESS when we can actually find a way for us all to get together and meet up with the Cobras and drive in incredible sun, cooler air, intermittent sun/fog, and open spaces right next to the ocean.

"Magical" is the word that sometimes comes to mind. After it was over, I heard at least half saying to each other - "why can't we stay another week, waaaaaahhhhhhh".

Great pics! Enjoyed the Friday run to Big Sur and back to Carmel. You couldn't have asked for better weather!

Default Next Years South Run 1.

Hey Doug,
Next year we need to see if we can actually find a few agreed stopping points, or maybe a stop point on the way back. I was thinking it might be fun to see about doing a little Friday 1pm-4pm drive-in lunch stop and car show and invade Ocean Avenue in Carmel...get the guy at Woodies to block off a bunch of spots for us like they did for the other event this year. If we could do it somehow, might be fun. Noise in and Noise out!

Gt390Fe,

Is this one of the photos that you tried to post? If so, just click on the picture that you want to put in a post to enlarge it to the next size. Under it will be the URL bar with the [img] tags. Just highlight that and copy it, then when you get to the place in your post where you want the picture just paste that copied URL which will show the [img] tags at each end. Then when you submit the post your picture, or pictures if you want to do more than one per post will be there.

Dan,

Those are great pictures. I have really been enjoying this thread as the pictures are fantastic. Many of those places I haven't been to in over 30 years, but I still remember the great scenery along the coast. Maybe if I ever get the Coupe back I can join all of you for at least part of the trip one of these days. I wanted to go to one of the WSCBs but could never get my car finished by the guy that is working on it.

Duane,

That would be great to carve out a spot in Carmel. It's tough to find a single place where everyone can meet/park as a group on Hwy 1.

Also, there are a lot of roads to explore in the Santa Cruz mountains and above Carmel (i.e. South on Carmel Valley Road and loop all the way around to Seaside).

There's a little park with a decent sized parking lot down at the north end (I think) in the Cannery Row area, where the Ferrari club has a meeting every year before the Historics. I'm not sure it would fit 50 +/- cars though.

www.montereybayinn.com is the hotel.

If you use google maps for 242 Cannery Row, Monterey, CA, then go to an aerial view, you will see the parking lot is right on the water near the hotel with a large grassy area.

Default 1/2 faned

Anybody recognize this car?..... I noticed only the left pusher fan is rotating. I was also wondering if the K. brother install puller fans on their mostly street driven cars? Some time ago Thomas mentioned the car we were talking about (track only I think) did not have puller fans.

Great photos and sounds like it was a great run and time for all.
