Thanks for the info and it was nice to see Chris responded. At least now I know there is still life in the company. Also, Bill you're right that we both know many changes need to be made in order for Hurricane to ever have a smooth production without problems. I know you had hoped I would buy Hurricane when it went up for sale. The price was very high for what you got and I just didn't have a desire to own the messy part. I enjoy a clean shop at the assembly end. We've sold out of new turn keys at the moment. 4 sold in the last several weeks and I had geared down because of the economy. Boy did I misread that the demand for Cobras never stops. We've picked up some slightly used ones to sell until we figure out our supplier. Hope all is well in Havasu. We didn't sign up for Run to the Sun because of our inventory problem. Stay in touch.

Okay I just returned from a lunch hour visit to the new Hurricane Motorsports facility in Arlington, Texas. Chris and his dad were both there, and Chris took me out to the shop. They were busily loading up all of the body molds, compressors and tools and are moving them to their body fabrication shop in Tyler, Texas today. All of the bodies will be popped at that location. Chris showed me all of the work that they have been doing on the molds to improve quality of the bodies. Their goal he stated is to be able to produce a uniform body and frame every time.

The Arlington shop will still be the primary sales office and frame assembly shop. Chris showed me the frame jig and a load of American steel they just received. He refuses to buy imported steel from China or anything local that has been melted down from scrap and recast.

The story with the 888 toll-free number is: The previous owners in Missouri still had the number and they were handling the forwarding to the local Texas line. Chris doesn’t know why it is not working, but he has been trying to reach them to get it straightened out. Their local number works as always. He has been on the road the past week all over the country and was out of cell phone service range most of the time.

And finally Chris said that he is hiring another welder, and some front office help to answer phones and such.

I see Chris made a post to this thread but I haven’t read it yet and I’m in a hurry so back to work for me!

So it looks to me like things are moving along at Hurricane.

...probably wouldn't hurt to have Chris or someone just post their local number here on this thread.

THANKS A MILLION BOB! Now I can sleep tonight. I'm always waving my American flag so didn't want to see another company on our soils bite the dust. I look forward to hearing from Chris. Thanks again for your time and help in this matter.

Who owns Hurricane???I thought Jay Nordsrome was the buyer...I was in the mix on purchasing but got a phone call on Friday afternoon April 12 informing me that they had deal made(was to meet the previous owners on Sunday to see about finalizing the deal). At the London show Jay announced his company had purchased it and had millions of $$$in reserve to make sure it would be up and running very quickly.
Guess I missed the boat, or maybe I was at the airport. Actually I was enroute the Little Rock to start the Hot Rod Power Tour.
Just curious.

I spoke with Chris earlier for an update on my car and things are gaining momentum and progressing just as Bob summarized.

For those that can't find the number, its on the website, 817-466-2380. They've answered it every time I have called.

Thanks Chris W.for the up date on your progress at Hurricane. It sounds like you guys are on the right track and making the necessary improvement to the car. I understand that doing a major revisions to a product is very tuff and time consuming, especially when your trying to use all materials made in the USA ( you guys are patriots).

Also Bonnie, hope to see more outstanding Hurricanes from your shop in the future, the one you had at the "Run To the Sun" last year was a "Knockout", I only wish my paint and body work was as nice as yours.

Anyway, Best Regards to All, Bill

I have HM1121 that was the last turn key minus from the
past owners . The car was a mess and Jay Nordstrom personally
picked my car up and had it completely re-painted it and repaired
allthe body fit problems my car had (looked like Lee's Summit
crew was less than worried I got a good job). I was sorry to hear
Jay left the company and have talked to Chris about my headers
and side pipes that were supposed to be ceramic coated and were
not , (had pre-paid former owners ). When I got my car delivered
opened up the box and no coating ....Chris told me to send them
in and he would re-inburse my money from Jet-Hot . Thank you Chris !
Also he told me two weeks ago as previously stated that the body
mold corrections were top priority and they were working on that
as well as other corrections as quickly as they could . The Hurricane
Cobra had great potential IMO ......I would like to thank Jay once
again for making my car something to be truly proud of . And to
Chris who is trying produce a great kit car . I hope they are not
overwhelmed by costly and enormous task ahead of the new company .
I am very disappointed that the previous owners were less than
business like and promised to keep their word ........which they did not .
My advice after what I went through would be get a different kit if
you are really going to buy Cobra kit . Or at least wait until there is
a LOT of positive ,crediable proof that they can deliver as promised .
Best of luck to the new owners ,I hope you can redeem a good car.

Mike , HM1121

Default Almost a Hurricane ... but just was not meant to be.

I was in the process of finalizing my financing to purchase a Hurricane when it was announced that the company was up for sale. Not too long after… it was announced that the company was sold … then it was announced that the company wasn’t sold. Then it was announced that the company was sold and it was moved to Texas. After all of this I just was not comfortable going with Hurricane if and when they ever started production again. So I went with Factory Five and so far I am glad I did. One thing that I really like about the Factory Five is the amount of after market items available to customize the car. And the amount of information on FFCobra.com that is available is great.

I wish Hurricane the best of luck … especially in these trying economic times.

I talked to Chris today...they have pulled some body panels from the molds and are close to pulling a full body. Also expecting to give birth to a chassis in a matter of days. I will be running up to DFW to see it in person and will post pics.

Good news, hope this is nearing the end of frustration for alot of people. As with any kit, there are a lot of little things that can be fixed in house with a bit of time. It's the attention to the little detail things that will keep Hurricane around for a long time.

I'll bet that we will see something around the first of the year with regards to production, availability and prices. I'm thinkin the new Hurricane will be much improved...Go Chris White and crew.

Best Regards, Bill
