Does any one use the quick jacks to lift?
I know they were used in the 60's but how well do they work? The original jack doesn't look like it would be difficult to make

The quickjacks on most (if not all) Cobra replicas are not functional and can't support the weight of the car.

If they worked in the 60's why wouldn' they work now? As long as the replicar has the same frame set up.

I know mine wouldnt hold very well. They are just bolted to the fiberglass, not hooked to the frame at all.

If the car was built like it was in the 60's it would hold them. Most newer versions are a little more portly and a little less structural forward of the frame rails.

Hello,
While I've never seen one bolted to the fiberglass. There are two reasons you wouldn't want to use them. 1. you have a fiberglass body and you don't want to tweak it, 2 your have an aluminum body and you don't want to tweak it. It's two 7 or 8 inch long bolts that will flex!
During racing, they could give a rats ass if they bent the aluminum (and it did) they would just hammer it back into place tomorrow.

I have seen pictures (somewhere on this site I believe) that show an original race car with special reinforcements on the quickjack supports. The body was still bent on the front.

Nobody with any sense uses them, they are for looks only. They barely worked on the original cars. I've seen pictures of original cars' jacks all bent up from jacking.

I thought about making and using the actual 'jack', I have a pretty good picture of one in use. Then I thought, that jack is huge, where would I store it?. Let that idea go......

This is the back of the front ERA Quick Jack -- I don't think it would support jacking up the front end.  And I don't want to have to ship it back up to Connecticut Custom Car to fix "my finding out."

on most replicas they are ornamentation only, and NOT functional. SPF owners manual says to not use them as they are cosmetically attached for looks only and not usage . Bill

You can take them off and replace them with bumpers. But then again they are just for looks too.

Functional Quick Jack
Whilst one can't carry this around, it is very useful in the garage, however, with a 'Spreader Bar' and a Race trolly jack it works well anywhere. In fact I can jack the rear or the front, using just one of the 'Quick Jacks'

If had them would use them, my bumperettes are bolted to the frame.But having a floor jack it is still much more convenient to jack off the frame, it always lifts both tires off the ground.If I spent a lot of time racing the car and needed to change rubber in a hurry would have a pit crew knowledgeable in quick jacking car.
