What happened to rdinkins? Did he get the answer to his question, which kicked off this regurgitation? The poor guy is probably trying to figure out what is going on. Except for one post, he has been ignored.

I think I will ask a random question on one of the old 'is it real' threads and see what happens.

I was thinking about him too. We probably scared him so bad he sold the car!

Thumbs down

His first post resurrected a 1+ year old dead thread

I have looked and looked and can't find anything about replica company that was sued for making exact replicas in the 1980's. Any info would be helpful. I love the car, I think it's priced fairly I just want to dig up some history if possible. Thanks for helping a Newbie. Rick from Noblesville Indiana.
When asked the following question

He does not respond, but then makes the following post 6 months later, resurrecting a thread long dead and buried for 8 years (last old post dated 2008 before Rdinkins resurrection post)

He has not logged back in to the site since that time.

I was told it was one of 37 made by this company, but can't find any other information. Anything would be helpful. Rick

Personally, I suspect a troll of the site, one made in a way so that the typical infighting would continue unabated. Quite simply, a way for someone to get their rocks off at the expense of the members of this forum. Whether by design, or quite innocent in nature is for anyone to guess.

In the mean time, let's face it, he got quite a few of you to let your ego(s) get the better of you.

I'll leave it at that, as I suspect this thread will soon be locked down and once again allowed to die a timely death in the archives.

I will second that. The horse is once again completely dead!

See that's the problem. The statements in AC's manual leave out the rest of the story as Paul Harvey would say and to borrow a phrase from LMH is intentionally deceiving leaving the reader to believe the cars design genesis sprang from AC testing and development.

While the changes to the Ace to bring the prototype Cobra to the production stage Cobra were designed by AC for the most part their manual is deafening in it's silence on where the etiology of directed changes came from. They came from Shelby American. That's crucial to bringing the Cobra into existence. The designing of the changes to carry out the desired modifications could have been done by any competent engineer or fabricator such as Remington but AC was the logical place to design the changes SAI wanted as the changes had to be incorporated into the production car.

The production body and chassis was constructed and changed per changes directed by SAI with wiring and then shipped to SAI for installation of drive train. The original "kit car" or the Superformance of it's day.
NOS-EDDIE likes this.

I wondered how long it would be before that came up. The 2000 series cars were essentially a "roller"...

It happens today. There are a multitude of racing teams that buy a Ford Mustang "body in white" and make it into their race cars.

Gee Tony, you didn't know that every thread that Evan enters eventually goes "there"? Were you born yesterday?

I was born at night but not last night

Yes, all roads lead to this final conclusion.

And, no surprise, except for a few minutia, nothing new has been said that hasn't already been said over and over again.

True, but the audience is many times new.

Only if your Bill Murray.

Just pointed out the striking parallel. Don't let it worry you. Ignore it if you like. No biggie.
