Default CSX 2001 was at Valley Circle Sunday

It looked, and sounded, amazing as it rolled into the Valley Circle meet this last Sunday. Here are some of the pics I took...

Rare to see a seven figure car on the streets, even in car heaven (aka So Cal). I wonder how often he drives it? I saw an original 427/Weber car at Cars & Coffee a couple months ago...he drove in from Beverly Hills. Red w/white stripes, too. My p**** felt really small that morning. Which is what all the other drivers probably felt like in that first pic above when he came driving in.

Great pics, look like a fresh restoration? Did you talk to the owner about the car? Do tell...........

What a sweet looking car.

What's the CSX# for the original Cobra, the one Shelby still owns? Is it CSX2000? If CSX2001 is the first production car, was CSX2000 a prototype?

You correct. CSX2000 could be considered pre-production. C.S. owns it, and it is kept at Shelby headquarters.

And that is a real, real nice car!

Anthony was there with ONE of his TWO... REAL... Full Competition Cobras too. He always has one of them at both the Bob's Big Boy meet in Burbank on Fridays, and the Valley Circle meet on Sundays. He's a great guy, and loves answering questions about his cars.

It's so cool to see such rare, AWESOME, Cobras actually driven to these events. My hat is off to these guys. These cars should be driven, that's what they are for!

Here is a great little video with Anthony talking about his two Cobras...

There were also some VERY nice cars from Factory Five, SuperFormance, ERA, and others. It was a great turn out of just about every type of hot rod you could imagine.

Very cool history you saw there. The one response was correct, CSX2000 is at the Las Vegas Shelby museum and painted blue, this car ( CSX2001) was the first car sold to the public. CSX2002 was the first Cobra raced, wire wheels and all. It was raced by Billy Kraus, his lt rear wheel fell off after leading most of the race. He never raced a Cobra again. CSX2002 is at the Miller Motorsport museum in Utah. Thanks for sharing your pics.

That might be the nicest cobra I've ever seen. Thanks for sharing.

Does anyone know what that car has for tires?

Default Csx2001

THIS is what it looked like about this time last year:

It was on display at the "Petersen Museum Tribute to Carroll Shelby" last November.

regards,

Jeff

Thanks All! for the great pictures of the Cobra's at Valley Circle...I wish I could have been there.

I had the good fortune of talking with Anthony at Bob's Big Boy last year when he had # 7 on display one Friday night. It was the first time I took my little Hurricane to LA to show my old friends. It was a great night for me, but the # 7 was awesome and Anthony was very gracious when talking about his car.

Thanks Again, Bill

That looks like big time collector Bruce Meyer behind the wheel of CSX2001.
I've seen him in his Ferrari 250 tdf and a '72 911 Carrera RS. He's a pretty cool car guy too. He and Leno are friends blah blah.

Are the speedo and tach correct for a FIA car or converted car from that time frame? They appear to be later big block gauges.

I can't recall seeing these gauges in a small block car before.

Smith gauges would be correct for pre CSX2200 cars. There are a mixture of gauges on CSX2001. The speedo appears to be in Kilometers instead of MPH. I believe the AMP and fuel gauge are a different style then original.

I'm not sure that the term FIA converted car would be the best description for the car. The rear fenders were widened but without the reverse-radius to the rear edges of the doors.

It was... and he was a very nice guy to speak with about the car.
