Default Routing fuel line from fuel pump to carb....351W

Hello All

I have been working on cleaning up the engine bay with wires, wire looms etc. etc
I am looking at the fuel line from my mechanical fuel pump to the carb. I have seen some photos...most..... with the fuel line coming to the front of the motor, over the distributer and supplying the carb.

To me it looks like most of the these installs just have the fuel line laying there.

I was wondering if there are any types of standoffs, brackets etc to clean that up?

another question.....do you always have to go to front of the motor, does anyone feed the carb with the fuel line going behind the carb? If so any type of brackets etc availabe

thanks for any suggestions...and Merry Christmas!!

John

Merry Xmas John,
A couple of thoughts for a fuel line from pump to carb that is running on the front of the engine are too keep it cooler and not promote heat saturation from the engine. If you ran up the back of the engine it would be much hotter just from the engine heat. Running the steel line in the front allows the most airflow around the steel hose or fuel line. Brackets for the line are not needed to support its weight and a big heavy bracket or mounts would just help to soak heat into the fuel from the block when park it after a run.

Merry Christmas!

The plan should be clear: Keep heat away from the fuel line. Let it not rest against the motor.

To give you an idea, some car manufacturers battle overheating of fuel tanks, because the return line with circulating fuel carries too much heat back! And they have a little blower fan to cool the injectors.

I come up from the back. I mounted the fuel pressure gauge on the bell housing.

I am with Roscoe. I went from the pump to the frame, back to the bellhousing and up the trans tunnel and mounted the reg to the firewall.
Cheers Greg

Hey Gang,
I have seen many routed up the back like Roscoe and Tin mentioned. If you can get away without vapor locking and problems go for it. I do like the looks and makes regulator mounting a bit easier too.

If you are in a hot climate or track the car enough to cause problems with vapor locking then maybe a move to the front will help.
