Default James Kirkland - Kirkland motors

Good morning.

Yesterday I received an inquiry on my SPF for sale herein. It was from James Kirland of Kirkland Motors.

I responded. The follow-up seemd very convoluted and involved and overseas buyer.

Does anyone know of this firm? Has anyone else received a similiar inquiry on their car for sale?

THanks.

JEff

Do not get involved in any convoluted overseas transactions. You will lose. You have to be careful even with cashiers checks. I bought a used cobra 5 years ago from a gent in N Carolina who had "sold" his car to someone who had sent a cashiers check for an amount greater than the purchase price. He wanted to pick up the car + $10,000 in cash. The seller took the check to a bank and the bank confirmed it was a counterfit check. You need to be sure you know who you are selling to - obtain references - and if possible do a "cash" sale, right at your bank. Good luck and merry Christmas.

I got an email from the guy as well. While I sold my car a very long time ago, I still would have deleted it since it sounded like nonsense.

The "loser alarm" went off immediately.

Jeff,

Actually I did on Dec 20th, for my '01 Cobra Mustang that's for sale right here on CC in the 'other cars' section.

According to his email, his client is in Austria ... and he asked ...

- Where am I located
- Price
- Why am I selling

All legitimate questions ... but all of that information is in the AD already !?!

Also, the 'From email address', did not exactly match the 'Contact Me address'. The whole thing seemed a bit odd, so I did not reply.

Not interested in a complicated overseas deal as well, would like to see the car go to someone a bit more 'local'.

- Tim
