Default Ten Years

Thanks so much for putting all this together. I have only been involved for about 3 years, but those 3 have flown by! Happy New Year and hope you have a speedy recovery. Come on down to Texas again this year. It promises to be even better this year. Skip

Bret, happy 10th anniversary of the site, Happy New Year to you and your family, and make SURE they don't nick the liver when removing the gall bladder.

10 years ago, I was depressed. I had organized a folder full of literature back in 1997 from Contemporary, ERA, Factory Five and a couple of kit car magazines, hoping that when I turned 40 in 98', I'd be building or buying a replica. But I was then purchasing a VW instead because of baby #2. Ironically, my oldest daughter had the honor in naming her sister and picked "Shelby".

Sometime around 98' - 2000, I think I found this site but lurked more than posted since I wasn't sure "when" I could pursue my passion. By 2003, the wish was answered. I purchased a Factory Five MKIII Roadster kit optioned with IRS and body cut-outs. I started to post more here in the "Bay Area Cobra " section (San Francisco Bay Area) and started to attend many of the weekly breakfasts, trying to gather up some information on what I was building.

Today, I've been on some great rides with my wife. 2008 marked the first time I took the roadster, aka SNKVNNM, from the Bay Area to Los Angeles ( FFR Huntington Beach Bash), and to Lake Tahoe with the Bay Area Cobra Club. I put in 3,000 miles this year and made what I consider some of the best group of friends I've ever met. My wife had no idea what we were getting ourselves into. And I thank you Bret, for making this medium that enabled us to have such friends. Here's to another 10 years!

Cool Cobra Community

Brent:

Best wishes for a speedy recovery. The Community (a social, religious, occupational, or other group sharing common characteristics or interests and perceived or perceiving itself as distinct in some respect from the larger society within which it exists) that you have created is a big part of a lot of lives. I've found this site about 4 years ago and my life has changed because of all of the great people that I've met. Thank you and have a great and healthy New Year.

Default Happy New Year

My sincerest congratulations on ClubCobra's 10th year, and may you have many, many more.

I haven't logged in for quite a while, but I do occasionally drop by to see the latest gossip.

I belong to other motor enthusiast sites [under different names] and ClubCobra is by far the most congenial place to congregate.

Best of luck to all it's members and hopes for a very, happy and fulfilling life in the year to come.

Brent,
Thanks for all your hard work on this forum and have a Happy New Year. We talked about gallbladder problems after your last attack. I had mine out last March. Admitted to the hospital in the morning and was home by 3 PM. The Dr. said it was all scarred up, discolored and full of stones. 3 days later, I was good as new. Get well soon.

Jim

Default !0 years went by like...a COBRA ;-)

Happy New Year, Brent!

First, here's wishing you a rapid recovery and quick seating back into your Cobra with your wife at your side.

Being one of the early members of Club Cobra is a truly felt "honor." Why an honor? Well, many of those who responded earlier than I to this thread have already said it. But it bears repeating; so I will... The people, like yourself, are some of the best examples of human beings that I have ever had the pleasure...and honor, to meet, drive and hang out with.

In 2001, I took my 88 year old, Pearl Harbor Survivor, father with a bunch of Cobra friends, around Lake Tahoe to Reno Nevada for my first, and so far only, excursion to "Hot August Nights." Needless to say, this one has stayed permanently, in my memory banks because my father was with me, loved it and continued to talk about it to the end of his life, in February 2008.

It might go without saying, but I will anyway, that without Club Cobra, this event in our lives would probably not have happened. But because it did, life is much richer than it might have been..and it continues.

So thanks again for the 10 years, Brent. I'm looking forward to many more decades of sharing experiences with you and the other great human beings on CC.

Brent, thanks for all your efforts in making this hobby more enjoyable. Without Club Cobra, sure would be different and more challenging.

The addition of the Registration Forum expedited the exchange of information for the CT enthusiasts , especially when we were working to successfully obtain the emission testing exemption for kit cars.

Club Cobra has a personal touch and for that we all say " Thank You "

Get Well Soon !!!

Thank you immensely for your labors to get and keep this site going. I have learned so much about these cars and their history and most of it is due to the threads and leads from our members.
My quest for a cobra is getting close...for my birthday this december my wife arranged a ride in a beautiful red CSX4000 series and then made a nice donation to the " fund ". Hopefully spring 09 if all goes well in the paint world.

thanks again and a speedy recovery to you

Brent;

Get well soon and get back to work on the '40"......and quit getting sick on holidays!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seems like just the other day that Art Colley and myself were talking at the monthly Cruise Nite in Gonzales,La., when he told me about CC and urged me to join as he knew I was looking at Cobra kits...can't believe it's been 10 years already.........

This bunch of folks has to be the most informed, most intelligent when it comes to Cobras and cars in general, more knowledge here than anywhere else in the world, I'd bet..........

PS:Since I don't remember what I did 3 weeks ago, much less 10 years ago, what was the final verdict on your first Cobra???? Did you ever find out the info on it you were looking for????????

God bless and Godspeed on a quick recovery....

Looking forward to another 10 years..........

Thanks for the ride;

David

I've enjoyed CC for several years now. I'm mostly just a reader, but sometimes I'll post a little something. Thanks to everyone who makes this harmless little hobby so enjoyable. I've learned much and made new friends. (Cobra folks are good people.) Here's to many more years of enjoyment on the forum.
