As my Cobra was running very old tyres - bought and fitted in 1989 I have been driving it kind of gently for a long time now - anyway they spun with the most gentle acceleration as they where so hard.
Have fitted new tyres recently and after running them in a bit, I really tested it's performance this weekend - I had forgotten just how f#*_#ng sudden these cars are and just how close they take you to no control at all - even on a straight piece of road - I'm back in love with my Cobra.
I have been driving a CAV GT40 on track days occasionally and also on one occasion a Reynard Formula Atlantic with V6 engine (For 28 laps - set fastest time of day) and the Cobra feels quicker - I guess because it is closer to the edge because of poorer handling (my one anyway) - HAPPY DAYS are here again.
You mean you have been running the same tires for twenty years?? Wow.
Yep - 20 years - and a seriously bad idea it is - don't copy me - the sidewalls tore off the beading when they were taken off the rims - but I did know they were bad hence driving with due care - low speed and torque.
