If you check the Jay Leno thread, I posted that there was a fresh original SOHC engine, originally a crate from Ford, on eBay and the seller wanted $59,500. I think the bidding got up to around $16,000-$17,000.

Now it's 'Buy It Now' for 32,500. Still a bit pricey, but for some guys, money is no object. From what I undrstand, a well built Shelby 427 FE can run 25,000. How bad do you want one?

Pure speculation on my part, but I think $30-40K for a complete one needing to be rebuilt is/was realistic, but maybe the economy has slowed or even reversed the upward price trend.

Just a pipedream for me.

I jead read some thread over on fordfe.com with bill coon and keithcraft discussing building new 427 cammers, i might just wait till that happens. That will bring a good sorted tested and proven cammer into the fold. I shall wait for that day.... unless a NOS crate motor comes my way!!!

Damm its past christmas now.........

Bill Coon is the Man on Cammers. The Cammer that Pops Performance offers on ebay & in their catalog is a Bill Coon top end Cammer.

I think there gonna be alot of interest in these motors if KC gets on board with a decent build.

I think the discussion over on the FE forum is that the Cammer, in its original form, was not reliable. The new heads that are being developed have not been thoroughly tested, per KC, and thus KC won't be offering a SOHC engine option until such time he's convinced that a reliable setup could be offered, and backed by him, to the public.

I've got 600 miles on 482, and I'm very happy so far.

I found many of those comments, especially from the old guard, entertaining. Of course, few if any of them would publicly admit how many times they wound a Cammer above 9 grand, as I'm sure they all "ventilated" a block on more than one occasion.

While I don't doubt their tales, just like telling fishing stories, the one that got away gets bigger and bigger with time.
