It's a little hot there, a long way from the radiator tank, and not too visible...but that may be where it ends up!

David,
I just wanted to say thanks - got my surge tank today and it is a work of art.
This way I'll have something Kirkham on my non-Kirkham car in Hawaii to tide me over until I visit Texas where my Kirkham resides.

Thanks! We try to do nice work.
I think our biggest problem is we don't do a good job of getting the word out. I really appreciate those of you who do it for us!

Hey David, if I need an extra O-ring will the MR gasket 2669 O-rings work?

David:
I received my surge tank last week, and it is now installed. My setup started with this:
and now looks like this:
and this:
Since I already had a radiator cap and overflow line on my radiator, my mechanic buddy suggested we just plug the two outlets on the surge tank with brass fittings, move the 16# cap from the radiator to the surge tank, and put a 13# cap on the radiator.
The outside temperature was just a little above freezing this weekend (burrrr!), so I haven't had the opportunity to drive it at length, but the engine compartment looks great with this new addition.
Hats off the the Kirkhams for the outstanding quality of this beautifully functional component!

Just checked. No. We made our o-ring slightly smaller.
But, if all else fails, you can always put the original gasket back in and it will work.

Something you guys running two radiator caps might want to think about...
I would think about running a low pressure cap (5+ or less) on the radiator. I would take the overflow line of the radiator and connect it to the air bleed line of the surge tank. I would run a higher pressure cap (13+ psi) on the surge tank. I would then of course run the overflow line out of the surge tank. This will help get all of the air out of the radiator.
Of course if the top of the radiator is taller than the surge tank flip the directions.
Hope this helps

That tank is sure a beautiful thing. All you need to do now is make a bottom piece to fit a Cleveland engine. That shouldn't take to much just a nice "S" bend tube to bolt on to the bottom in place of the Windsor one.

I know I'm late on this thread... I wouldn't want the BigBlock look on a small block. The tank looks great! Just a personal choice.

It solves so many problems at once that we now use them standard on all our 289 cars. I certainly understand wanting the correct look, however.

We make them for small blocks, big block FE's, Clevelands, and 460's--right and left outlet. The only thing we haven't covered is a Chevy.
