The cars need an expansion tank because the radiator is lower than the engine. Also, it is a good idea to have a tank to get air out of the system. The original 289 car put the tank on top of the leaf spring tower but on many replicas, there simply isn't room for the tank there.

As for original engine looks...if the car doesn't have an original leaf-spring chassis then I don't get too excited anyway about how exactly correct the engine is.

Our tank is very easy to use, just bolt it on. Also, it allows us to use the 427 radiator and 427 radiator tubing so we don't have to go rooting around the hose section of the parts house. The 427 tubing is pretty easy to adapt to other makes as well.

The biggest advantage, however, is getting rid of the crazy leaking problem.

David,

No need to worry about gaskets...we eliminated them. One day I was changing the water pump on a Honda and saw they were using O-rings...

If it is good enough for Honda, it is good enough for us! You will be most pleased you don't have to mess with that messy silicon or gaskets sliding around again. Just bolt the tank on and you are DONE!

Smile Centerpiece "Tank"for my 351 based engine.

David, I'm tired of wiping the drizzle off the front of my engine. Word is that Santa still has a little $$$ left... Should I just call the number on your website? Need a passenger side outlet for a 351 based, 392 ford crate motor (Superformance 1085) Thanks, Tony.

Who cares what the tank goes on, 'Big' or 'Small' block. I like the looks of the tank on any motor. Mine just happens to go on my SB for the ease of adding and keeping the coolant level just right. Most of the cars on this site are 'Replicas'! Do what you want with your car. It's your friggin $$. By the way that is a great looking tank.

Question

Hi Dave,
Did you ever come up with a puke/overflow tank?
Just wondering?

My thoughts exactly.

Thanks for the kind words!
