From a hopeful future Cobra owner ... I would absolutely help. Having been stranded a few times in my British cars or early Mustangs, people seemed to come out of nowhere to help. I always make an effort to lend a hand, it's fun and as mentioned above, you meet some really great people.

I was having a conversation on another forum and someone with a chip on their shoulder said other (non manufacturer specific) owners are pretty selfish and would not lift a finger to help (that owners make/model) even if asked. Since clubcobra is as widespread an ownership base (make/model/income bracket/race/religion/stripes/no stripes/rivets/no rivets/etc and so forth) as I could think, I posted the question here.

As for the two who posted otherwise above, yes Ron, just out of curiosity, I would like to know not who they are, but which manufacturer those two own (or if they even own a car at this time).

Thanks to all who have participated so far, it does this old soul some good to see that human nature (at least in this community of auto enthusiasts) does indeed hold true......

Sincerely,

Bill S.

Absolutely, even tow it to my shop if need be and if close enough(?), Or anything else I could do at the 'scene'.
Good question Bill.

I have always supplied any help needed, when I can... and it doesn't have to be a Cobra... Actually, if it was just Cobras, I'd probably have more free time

Although I only own a Mustang at the moment, I am willing to offer what assistance I may, regardless of make.

OH YA! I would always help anybody if they are broken down, especially any special car like a Cobra.
As far as helping anyone with other problems, it would depend on the cicumstances and situation at the time...but generally the answer is YES if it's possible.

A true close friend would get my left nut and all my money if they asked, a good friend might get to a look and a little of my money, just anybody would get a casual thought and consideration....probably a little help and no money and no nuts.

Of course I would! It seems lately I have spent as much time on others cars as I have my own. I have even gone as far as 400 miles to help a friend (he paid the air fare-but he didn't have to).
Our group of fanatic's are unique because we are the ones that seem to appreciate the simplicity of our rides and most of us understand where every nut and bolt belongs. Regardless of the manufacturer, we almost always cast the same shaddow and we tend to like the noise and smell of classic horse power (notice I didn't mention Chevy, Ford, Chrysler etc.?). Thanks to us a good part of automotive history is being maintained.

I talked with Hi-Tech a couple of times, he's in my neighborhood. I guess we haven't needed any help yet, but I am always willing. Feel free to stop any time the garage door is up.

Absolutely, however, I don't limit help to only Cobra owners.

What year Stang? I have a 89LX project that I'm knee deep in. I was going to donate this to another Cobra project but the thought of a roof, AC, and heat has become appealing. Having a blast.

I have been stopped a couple of times for various reasons, asked for jump starts, tows, help, gas, whatever. I even got asked for $20 bucks one time for a guy that had a battery die at a gas station, had an empty wallet, he just filled his tank and the guy at the station refused to help him without being paid $20 for the jump, no one who came up to the pump had cables. I loaned him the $20 and gave him my address and within a week I had my $20 back plus $5. My dad thought I was crazy along with most of my family. Since then, I've loaned guys a fiver here or there, some come back, some don't, some come back with more. I always thought that good deeds come back when you need them and I never wanted my wife to get stranded somewhere without help. God is fair and just.

Yes, I love working on cars! No one at work is a car nut. Fishing, base ball and foot ball, but no car nuts. I have no one to talk about cars, or car shows, or races other than my sons. I need to join a car club!

Absolutely would and do. I have even had a couple of people bring their cars to me to work on. My neighbor asked to borrow a couple of tools to work on his wifes car and I grabbed them, and walked over and spent an entire weekend under her hood with him.

As far as Cobras go, I don't have one, but when I do get one, I hope to use the knowledge that I have learned to help with the build. I have met a lot of good people along the way as well.

Snakebit,

I think we work in the same office! Everyone around here is into something but no real car guys. I would venture to say most folks in my office would call tripple A if they had a flat. I wouldn't know how to classify my office mates if I had to. We don't hang out!
Many are the kind that would get into an elevator alone and move to the back of the elevator as far out of sight as possible and try not to notice if someone is trying to get on their elevator. Not all but more than a few!

Clois

Would I help a fellow car owner/car nut, definelty yes goes without saying, just ask and you will receive, doesn't have to be a Cobra or even a cool car, could be a junker, if someone needs help and I can help, all they have to do is ask........

Lets see, helped a guy (competitor) change his slipping clutch at the track one time only for him to beat me in the race, gave a guy whom I never saw before and probably never will see again and have no idea what's his name, a thermostat and gasket and sealant to replace his stuck one on his 65 GT-350 at SAAC in Virginia, gave another guy some radiator hose clamps at the same time and have done so numerous times thru the years and never accepted a penny for the parts and they all offered to pay for them.....helped change starters and many other misc. parts on cars at the tracks and at their homes/shops......currently doing some body work for a buddy on his FFR roadster, he's a mechanic by trade and knows nothing of body work, also, did about 2 days of body work and painted his F-150 4x4 mud racing truck last spring, he gave me a few beers and that was enough payment.........

I just pray and hope I don't need to ask anyone for help in a similar situation, that means my junk is NOT broken and running pretty good, that's all I ask for............

And then there was this kinda tall, lanky guy with a beard, that gave me a 10x12 brand new canopy at a track a few years ago, all I had to do was take it down and box it up and haul it off....
BTW: to that guy, thanks a million, I've used it a ton.....got anymore canopys you don't want????????

David (I've done soo much with soo little thru the years, I can now do just about anyhting with almost nothing)
