trailer MSRP discounts?

Has anyone bought a trailer recently? I have been looking at used trailers but I may also buy a new Wells Cargo trailer that I have been looking at. Can anyone tell me what discount I should be able to negotiate these days on a new wells cargo trailer?

Probably buying one that is properly equipped for your needs is more economical than the one with the biggest discount.
A wells cargo is an excellent choice---there frame rails are ret tubing instead of channel.
Another good choice is a Featherlite

Whatever, get 4 wheel brakes, beavertale floor, ramp door,side door and at least 4 feet longer than you think you need. If you order a trailer you can spec where the axles are located which is vital for balance of rig with car loaded in it so you don't place your tow rig into unstable loading scenerio

I bought a 20' Wells cargo with polished diamond plated floor, 4 wheel brakes and finished interior. Paid around 7000 two years ago. I have since invested about 1000.00 more in it. Wench, tool bench, lighting etc. Wish I would have got the beaver tail. Oh well

I bought a 20 ft trailer on e-bay. I ordered it and had it built to my specs and color choice. I paid less than $5k for it but did have to drive to Georgia to pick it up. I didn't mind as it saved big bucks in transportation and I got to check out the manufacturer. It's fully lined inside with internal light, roof vent, spare tire and has dual electric brakes. I'm happy with it after 2 years but do wish I had gotten a "V" nose to help with the fuel mileage.

I bought a brand new Carson Racer 20' enclosed trailer with a beaver tail, 4 wheel disc, electric brakes, diamond plate package, epoxy floor etc... for about 6k cash from the dealer. Regular price was about 7k and they cut it 1k for paying cash. There are probably some deals out there on used trailers, but honestly I would not pay what most are asking considering what I got for my money brand new with a warranty. My.02

Redcsx1....you got a 20" Wells cargo trailer with a that floor and finished interior for 7$. Given the prices on the WC trailers I am seeing you must have stole that one. Are you serious? Which model was that....motortrac I presume?

I agree . . . I've cruised Craig's List a couple of times and 20 footers were going way higher. Nice buy!

Here are a few shots of it. Its a good trailer but I think that Carson Racer is equal to it. Really do not like the hitch setup much (hard to remove). I had bought the trailer on a Thursday and use it to haul my Cobra to Willow on Friday for an open track event.

Thanks for the pics...if you think about it, let me know what model that is. For the current WF models I have seen (motortrac, autowagons), I don't see anything close to that price point.

If you are going to get a Wells Cargo----look at getting a beaver tail rear floor and an recessed step at the side door

I've had a few Wells Cargo trailers and some of the reasons why I choose them over Pace or other brands

Frame rails are retangular tubing, nor an channel iron
Door locks are robust locking lugs that also prevent up/down movement of the door
Beaver tail rear floors that allow easier loading---you probably won't need to elevate the tongue to get car chassis to clear floor hump
reccessed side door opening--like a built in step--eases entry/exit
Diamond plate rock guard on front of trailer
Retangular tube tongue rails make using equalizer hitch similar
Enought interior height that you can stand up
E track available mounted from factory
Side vent system that works to evac fumes while traveling
Interior lites avaible
Colors optional
Can spec where you want the axles/doors for balance

I now have a Featherlite gooseneck---they are framed with extrusions and are sort of a mono type structure
