Default Cobra at the drag races, CSX2498

This is the summer of 1970, that is CSX2498 in the staging lanes at Maple Grove Dragway. The car still has the original wire wheels, home made headers (uncapped), & Boss 302 engine and hardtop. That is our friend Paul Clayton with his powder blue sunbeam tiger.

Last edited by KarlCSX2498; 01-26-2009 at 11:24 PM.. Reason: failed to mention the hardtop

Karl,
If you still have CSX2498 in your garage how about taking some pictures of it now and showing us what your Cobra looks like today.

Default Photos of CSX2498

Yeah, we still have the car. Just click on the camera icon under my user name and there are photos of the cobra from last summer.

The times were low 12s.... 12.05 and approx. 116mph that was just into 3rd gear at the lights. Paul's tiger ran almost as fast with slicks.

I remember that day at the drags, we were getting french fries and the announcer said "you do not see too many of these around anymore" so we ran over to the fence to watch the race.

regards, karl

12 Ohs with 1970's tires and a Boss 302 is terrific. 116 MPH is good HP. Did it have a 3.08?

The final drive ratio is somewhere around 3.08, since he could only get to 3rd gear. What ever was original for the 289 street car. Computer is still messed up, I had to ask Ron to post the photo for me and I had to ask a friend to email the photo to me first. I need a new DVD drive.
