Default Classic Roadsters situation and parts availability

Sorry to start a new thread but could find nothing specific about my situation. I have just purchased from Lance Motors in New Jersey a CR 427 Cobra that I suspect was built in 1991. It went from a dealer in Indianna to an auction in Indianna to a dealer in KY to Lance Motors in New Jersey to Me back in KY. The VIN is 4CRDBK121MF000141. What can anyone tell me from that? I don't know what running gear, rear end, transmission, etc., that it has. I think the motor is either a 289 or 302. How can one tell, other than maybe pulling the pan and measuring the piston stroke? Also with the demise (I guess) of Classic Roadsters II where could I purchase parts for it? Right now ( I think) I just need a hood and trunk support rod, a matching passenger side mirror, and a tonneau. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

jimhurtt,
There is a CRII forum here on CC. Posting there might help. I can draw up prints for the trunk and hood prop rods for you. You would just need to get them built. .
If you pull the intake it should say in the valley area what the motor is. There might be other ways but I am not exactly sure of them. Others can chime in on that.
For the mirror, if you pull it off it might say underneath the manufacture but check out Finishline. They might have it or buy both from them. Finishline is a sponser here on CC.
As far as information on CR'S, On the CRII forum here on CC the resident GURU is DV. He can answer most if not all of your questions.

Mine is a late 80's-early 90's also.
Welcome to CC. This place is a wealth of information.

Terry

Default Thanks Terry

I will look for the CR II forum (I am a new member). I've noticed my car has an Eddlebrock aluminum intake that says Torker 289. But, I'm told all parts are the same on 289's and 302's. I have no idea also if the engine has been reworked in any way (cam, bored out, etc.). Do you know if there are any parts out there at all for these (CR II 427's) cars at all? Also is your VIN similar to mine?

Jim

Jim,
Go to the main page and scroll down to "Manufacturers, Engine Builders, tools, and parts". In there you will find the Classic roadsters forum link.
According to Don from CR there is no way to tell what is in your car as far as CR is concerned. This information was from a long time ago when I asked him about mine.
I just thought about it, Above your starter should be a block id number. If you get that number we could find out at least what your engine started out as. No one will know what has or has not been modified unless you tear it down and check it out.
As far as parts, Hopefully there might be owners that did not use all of their parts or used after market parts and still has some left overs. That or just make your own/purchase after market. Depending on what you need.

Good luck, Terry
