Wow! When did they start making those?

PS.. I hate the stupid window in the hood that allows you to see...wait for it...the plastic cover that goes over the real supercharger.

Actually most of what you see is the actual supercharger. However, I don't like it either. Supposedly the paint to protect the carbon fiber top cost $50,000 per gallon. I don't like the carbon fiber look and would rather they save the money and just paint the top the body color.

You don't see any of the blower through the hood. The silver part of what looks like the cover, is the intake plenum cap, which has the dual heat exchangers in it. The blower is the under the intake style, so even with the gay engine cover off, all you'd see of the blower is the drive pulley.

There's nothing wrong with that setup, lots of cars use it, but don't put a hole in the hood for nothing to look at.

Never been a 'vette fan since the 60's, but this one is a head turner. I still like my Shelby Cobra better.

having an 03 ZO6 I would never pay 170k thousand for that Vette. Looks like any other Vette on the street. Instead you could buy a regular one, with an LS 3 change the quarter panels and twin turbo it, and have 80k in your pocket for a cobra.

The base price of the new ZR1 is $103,300 and with options up to $118,000. On a factory tour this past year they only had the new ZR1 engines in place and the massive 16.5 front and 15 inch rear carbon fiber brake rotors at a price tag of $1,000 each.

The Ferrari guys are going to be PISSED when they find out when they have been paying $5k each for the same rotors.

You shouldnt have to. about 110 gets you well in to the supercar range. Say what you want but both tne z06 and ZR1 are bargains for the performance you get.

This video is a little more interesting- comparing the new Nissan GTR with the new ZR1.

When they say the Vette smokes the GTR, you have to watch to the end to see how they demonstrate this.....

Hexnut72,
Maybe it was $4K a piece instead of $4K total but it’s still cheaper than a Ferrari. I’ll be going to down town Naples Florida tomorrow to see the streets of Naples in red as the Naples Ferrari Club puts on a local car show.

Enjoy. But while you are there remind them all that an American made Corvette (with full warranty) can now whip their ass anywhere (including Nürburgring).

The ZR1 rocks. Sure it's over-priced in 'Vette circles and for most it's hard to justify the expense over even a plain Jane $75-80K Z06. But the performance of this car is astounding and can't be denied. You 'Vette haters will just have to deal with it.

Dean,
Your car would fit in perfect, the last time they had a show I told my friend to meet me by the red car and he could not find me.

Would love to roll into that show in the Cobra, with a license plate frame that said "Carroll whipped you."

I've driven my father-in-laws 07 Z-06 and it's a performance bargain. I can't imagine what this ZR1 runs like.
I owned a 1995 ZR-1 and thought it was a dog. This new ZR1 is a master piece in performance, but I still think the Z-06 is the "bargain" between the two.

the dealership in LA marked up the ZR1 to out the door for 170k. For that much I'd buy a GT 500. Now thats a supercar worth every penny.

I hope you meant a Ford GT, not a GT 500.

For 170 large, would DEFINITELY prefer the Ford GT over a ZR1.

Post the name of the dealer so we know not to go there for our everyday cars.
