Excuse me sir, is that a real Cobra

Bill S.

PS: I have a 289FIA owner in my office and he is asking as to the originality of the HiPo style air cleaner assembly. Really.

PSS: looks great....

Karl,
The car looks great. Has it already gone in for refurbishing?

thanks for the comments. when I pulled the car into the gym at the church/school with the open pipes everyone came to a stop, it sounds really healthy. the little blue car was very well received and a popular addition to the show.

I'm not sure about the air cleaner, when the car is original some of the smaller details are not so important.

no the car is not repainted yet, we have to strip the paint and take it up to panel craft in NH asap for some small aluminum repairs and then off to the paint shop. we want to clean it up for saac in NJ this summer.

later, karl

It's your call on repainting, but somewhere between the Cobra called Dirtbag and show quality is what I would strive for. The car is wonderful, as is.

Hey, Any of the club cobra guys are welcome to stop by anytime.

I should have the car street ready by spring. I have insurance, now body work & paint, then lic & insp. and it is back on the road.

Oh yeah, and new exhaust. The straight drag headers will not pass inspection.

Karl,
I know you've made arrangements to do body/paint but I honestly would not touch it if it were mine.

Superb car, just as is. What was that color called in '64 or 65 when new?

Hello, thanks very much for the comments. the current color is close to guardsman blue, CSX2498 was white from the factory and was painted blue before my dad bought it in '69. If you look close at the photos you can see the LR fender flare is damaged and the paint peeled off. also, the aluminum is cracked along the edge of the flare. The old side pipes dented the RH rocker panel and there is a small dent at the lower corner of hte hood. On the trunk lid there is a very small spot where the paint is not properly adhered and has a small bubble about the size of a quarter.

It will be painted guardsman blue again.

regards, karl

He almost made it for breakfast tomorrow but got hung up with that work thing and his project. Ask him how that's doing, I want to see pics of his progress. 2498 is looking glorious ain't it.

I was going to take some shots of the scratch build while there yesterday, but the camera batteries died before I could get enough shots of CSX2498 for Ron's (Computerworks) collection. Never did get detail shots of the undercarriage or trunk area.........

I thought perhaps that someone from the super secret "da bunnies" organization would have a shot or two that they could share

Karl,

How goes the paint stripping on CSX2498?

Also, did you get my text page this morning about your welder issue? If not what I asked was how old your gas cylinder and valve are, as I just replaced a 4 year old valve because the gas was cutting out. Thought it was the welder, but turned out to be the valve on top of my cylinder (go figure). Just a thought.

Bill S.

PS: Then again, if the welder is not working properly, it's as good an excuse to "upgrade"
