Take a thin gauge strip of highly polished stainless steel (either cut or buy in the width that you desire it to protrude inwards). Measure the diameter of the side air intake and ad a little bit extra (enough to spot weld the two ends together). Once the lip is finished all round it will more than likely have some unevenness, this you sand down. The final touch is then to buff the lip up to a brilliant shine. Slide in place and mount (silicone works nicely). Not for the faint hearted. Good luck if you wanna give it a bash.

I found one at a local hardware store made for an outdoor grill. Expanded stainless steel with a one inch border folded on each side. Added a removable framed window screen cut to fit. I can remove the entire unit with one wrench in less than a minute. It is deep set and painted flat black and is barely visible from the front. Total cost less than forty dollars. Ron

I bought some 1/4" SS mesh from Pegasus. It's attached to the radiator, with a central spacer to kerep it off the core. You have to look close to see it; most people don't notice it.

It's catches a lot of bugs and rubber at the track. Hitting a chunk of rubber at over 120mph can really do some damage to the radiator core. But every one of my fins is still as straight as the day I installed it.

Very simple, yet very effective. And cheap. I like cheap.

Don't have the car any more but made a grill out of over head flourescent lamp diffuser. Quarter inch squares, by quarter inch deep used hooks off existing screw holes to pull it forward against the opening. Made out of aluminum and comes powder coated. May have a picture in the for sale section back in June 2007( black/ silver striped FFR)?
