Question about windshield wipers and bezels
Two wiper questions:
My car was such a rat when I took it apart that I didn't even notice at the time, but there is no rubber at all under the windshield wiper post bezels. Is this normal for the metal bezel to sit right on the paint?
Also, the wiper arms are in good shape, but the rubber looks like it came over on the Mayflower. Does anyone know where to get new refills or wiper blades to fit this? I know Cobra Restorers sells the whole arm and blade assembly, is this the only way to buy them? Thanks!

I imagine it would be pretty easy to cut new rubber washers out of an old inner tube or some other rubber. Usually there is a rubber washer to protect the paint.
The wiper arms are 1960's MG, I believe. You may be able to find a matching set at any autoparts store.

Wiper "pads" ( the rubber pieces) are available from a few different sources (Moss Motors for one) but they do not fit very well as they do not match the bezel footprint. For the best fit go to a local hardware store and buy a piece of sheet rubber and cut them yourself. As for the wipers, I bought a set of blades (rubber and backing piece, but not arms) also from Moss but do not remember the application they came from. I can look it up if you do not take Bob up on his offer.

Bob,
That would be great. Do you have a PayPal account, I'll send you some money. If not, email me your address and I'll send a check. Thanks!

Thanks for the info, Jay. I just saw some wiper bezel gaskets in Cobra Restorers. They're only $2 a piece, I'll give them a shot. If they're no good I'll make my own as you said. Thanks.

Just for the record, not all washers and wiper bezels are the same. Some bezels are more tilted than others and thus require a more ovoid gasket shape.
