Thanks Scott! It was nice to see you as well. And I look forward to many drives together. Just take it easy on me at the track. I drive like a 90 year old in an 82 Buick with the left turn signal on. You've made me feel a part of the KMP family already.

Oh brother of Sandwich... Your car on the rotisserie is magnificent! I saw you last weekend but never had the opportunity to introduce myself. I was mostly bothering your brother Dave and following him around like a puppy dog. You all create art and it's absolutely stunning. I love what you've done with your car. I have a few pics of it but will hold off posting. One of these days my goal is to see the customers finished billet car. The mule you have in the shop is beyond belief!

I hope to get back out there in the very near future.

Please post pics when your car comes off the rotisserie.

You all are a great bunch of folks out there. Brilliant too!

Thanks for the kind words. I do claim Sandwich. He's a good kid. I look forward to being involved in future events and assorted road trips and hope to get to know you better. Its strange, in a way, for me to think there are others out there with the same fanaticism as me. I can't wait to get out and burn some dinosaurs. Do me a favor and tell David there's a man drowning in a sea of anticipation. I will definitely post pictures!

The billet car really was a crazy project. Imagine the parameters. The body, engine, tranny, seats and rear end are hard points. EVERYTHING else can be redesigned to be lighter, stiffer, provide better handling, better braking, better corning and above all should drop the jaw of those that see it. I still go back to the "Million dollar" thread from time to time just to see it again. The way it all came together was really quite amazing. I think my favorite part, and kudos to Dave for pressing for it, was the pushrod suspension. Popping the bonnet and seeing those transverse shocks was just plain cool. And the polished belly pan made it one of those rare cars where the underneath is as beautiful if not more so than the top side. I'll admit that there were many moments of frustration but to be a part of creating something out of thin air was pretty memorable.

I too would like to see the car in real life again. It really was stunning to look at. But I guess I'll just have to settle for my car.

That'll be stunning to look at too. And drive, and sleep in, and stare at, and...

I got my Kirkham on my 1 year wedding anniversary... now first of all my wife is very understanding and wants me to be happy, but my constant and persistent focus on getting a Kirkham cemented in her mind that is was important to me. I also assured her that it would not keep US from accomplishing anything else that was important to our life.
Then I had to put my effort where my mouth was... I have been remodeling the house for the last 2 1/2 years since taking delivery of the car. So I HAVE a Kirkham but I am not driving a Kirkham. But to me, as I would suspect is the case with many more car guys that is a sacrifice well worth making for successfully getting one of these works of art into ones possession.
Now the house is almost done and the Kirkham will be getting the attention it deserves.
When it comes down to it... when the wife is getting what is important to her, how can she deprive you of what is important to you. As long as it is within your reach.

Just buy the damn thing. You're just going to end up dying and leaving your heirs the money and feeding in to their sense of entitlement -- and then they'll end up losing it all in bad investments anyway.

I started expressing interest in Harleys. I ride dirt bikes for fun (KTM's and Husqvarna's) and so when my neighbor (a good friend) bought a Harley I feigned interest and my wife took me seriously and said I could have anything I wanted as long as I didn't buy a Harley. So I bought a Porsche then a Kirkham.

To be perfectly honest with you I think she was more afraid of the tatoos than the Harley!

I can't make heads or tails of what the OP is asking and why. I bought it and then told her. Of course, she got me back the first time I drove into the garage. She stood there shaking her head and said, "You look just like Stuart Little." My daughter said, "Well, at least you didn't run off with a 21 year old aerobics instructor." Wimmen.

Nothing like jumping on the truth.... Compared to some middle-aged "hobbies," owning a Cobra starts to look like a bargain.

You just haven't reached the point where you REALLY want one. I did, and offered to my wife that I would have a vasectomy to keep her from taking birth control hormones if I could buy the car of my dreams. So I can no longer make babies. And have a freakin' Cobra! Talk about a license to SCHWING!
