Default yeah, bout time

I think it was your photos that made me get it in gear and get this thing finished. The body came from a CC member that had purchased it to mount on a fiberglass replica but he decided it was too much for him to handle so he bought a kirkham. I should of done the same and bought a kirkham.

Great pictures! Thanks for sharing. I was wondering how long (time wise) has it taken you to get to this stage with the project?

Karl, pics look great!

What is the goal for the build? Vintage look with some moden upgrades?

Default goals

Hey Sal, the goal is as close to original appearance as possible. I have the FE, toploader, original style center section, CSX4000 tubular steel suspension, 42 gal. tank from Acton Custom, alloy body and original side pipes. I did use the wilwood brake calipers & alloy radiator, I guess you can call those two items modern upgrades.

Dark Blue or black paint, no stripes.

thanks jeff, will see you at NJ with this car.

regards, karl

Ah yes, but how did the paint stripping go on CSX2498

That's what I figured. My car is the same way. I like it to look correct on most details, but I also like having upgraded stuff that makes it better or safer to drive.

If you need any help or advice on making non-original stuff look original, shoot me a message sometime. On your radiatior, you can paint it with Eastwoods radiator black (semi gloss finish) and then put a repro Serck tag on top and it looks much more correct (what I did with mine).

Hey Bill, Nope, it is still blue. Had to make a choice, assemble my 427 or work on the 289. I may deliver it to NH with the paint still on and the stripper in the box.

Hey Sal, thanks very much for your offer. I am not going to worry about small details like the radiator. CSX2498 had the same exact radiator as my 427 so no big deal. I failed to mention my 427 has the original style 4" round tube chassis. A CC member Richsd, did a kirkham and changed it to be mostly original. I think that is one of the nicest cobras I have seen. If my car looks half that good I will be happy.

I worked on the headers & side pipes today. I had to fab a new #4 header tube and trim all the headers back 1.5" as the side pipes were too far away from the side of the car. Now over to the drivers side.

best regards & thanks again, karl

Default back from vacation

worked on drivers side headers & battery box today. I'm not sure why the photos are so dark, I will try to take a few more shots.

Default more photos

Hello, I posted more photos to my assembly photo album today. The flash stopped working on the digital camera so I rolled the car outside, it was 71 today. This is Natasha having her first "ride" in her cobra.

Hello, the wire harness is installed and the new XXL Comp fuel tank from Acton Custom, along with fuel line plumbing up to the carb.
Almost ready to fire it up, just waiting for a couple small items.
