Default Larry H. Miller just passed away.

Fellow Car Nuts:

Larry H. Miller just passed away. This is very sad news for the Cobra world. Larry was most gracious in bringing some of history's most incredible cars to many local car shows. He didn't hide them and squirrel them away. He wanted the world to see them.

I will never forget a local charity that held a car show a couple of years ago where Larry brought Comp Cobras, street Cobras, and GT 40's (notice I mention these cars in plural). There were more GT40's than street Cobras at the show! He took up 1/2 of the building. He even had the GT-40 MKII Ken Miles drove at the 1966 Lemans! He let us walk around the cars, take close ups, breathe on them etc. To him they were just cars, special cars to be sure, but people were more important to him than cars ever were or could have been. He was just a very kind man to be around. Every time I saw him, I thanked him for showing his cars all over the place. Without fail, every time he thanked ME for taking the time to come and see them!

Of course, we have had a special relationship with the Miller family for the past years with the incredible Miller Motorsports race track. Every time I see another track I get the willies! (and not in a good way!)

Too many walls, too many accidents waiting to happen. Larry paved run offs, widened lanes and did everything he could to make the track as safe as possible. No one ever realized how much money he spent to keep us from plowing our cars into the wall. The track is superb and well worth the trip here to Utah to experience it.

Our sincere condolences to the Miller family,

David

What a great guy. Not only was he great in the Cobra Community he gave a tremendous amount to the local community, a lot of it unknown.

That'a a big bummer. We had a great time at the SAAC 32 event held at Larry's race track. The supporting staff and Larry were very accomodating to all of us Cobra and Shelbyholics'.

Larry was a true connoiseur of fine Shelby American product (Cobras, GT40s, Falcon Wagons); he always welcomed everyone to his museum and was always willing to talk about the unique cars in his collection. He was never willing to back down from competition in reference to having his vehicles raced by "guest drivers"; he had said "race to win, if you damage it we can always fix it."

To Larry and his family, my deepest condolences.

To David Kirkham: keep us updated on Larry Miller situation and what they are planning funeral wise(private/public).

RIP Larry. Between the Gunbarrell collection and your half (which I still need to see) I found my passion again. I know it will not be a happy day on Chapparall Ct. tomorrow. I will probably take my Cobra down just because.

Default The Ultimate Car Guy

I met him at the 2007 SAAC Meet and he was a regular guy in addition to owning a ton of Ford Agencies and selling over a million cars...he loved his Shelby Cobras and the vintage race cars in his collection. Sharing his good fortune was his passion. When Bob Bondurant signed his picture on the wall in his Hall of Fame, one could see the pride in Larry's eyes that afternoon. The motorsports world has lost a real friend and our sincere sympathies to his family, friends, and employees.

David,

I never had the pleasure of meeting Larry Miller but I have heard nothing but good things about him and his race track. My condolences to his family and many friends. It seems as though the world we live in today just isn't producing Larry Millers or Richard **** Smiths anymore.

Sadly, we have lost quite a few really good men from the motorsports world the last few years.

RIP Mr. Miller. You will be missed.

Larry has given so much to Utah. We drive his cars, eat in his restaurants, root for his Basketball team, and drive on his race track. In some way he has probably touched just about everyone I know. His story of success and achievements are truly inspiring. He will be sorely missed by all.

I went through my pictures of the Gunbarrell collection and found these two:

It was always so cool to see these cars that are driven and still win.

Rest in peace, Larry. Larry's collection and track are simply amazing. Sherrie and I had the opportunity to spend a couple hours alone in his museum this last fall and it was a great experience.

Wishing his family the best.

Default Larry Miller

A very big loss to not just the Cobra Community or the race track, but to the SLC and several other states and venues (sports other than racing) he was active in. I had the good fortune to work with Larry and his ermerging family of auto dealerships in 84-87. he was truly a good business man who believed in treating customers, employees, vendors and the manufacturers fairly. He will be missed on many fronts
