Ford GT, but I would have to change the pulley so I would no be smoked by a ZR1 if I ran into one on the street...

JWD,
The only fair way to do this would be to post the same poll on a Corvette forum and combine the results. To do it only on a Ford based forum is ridiculous.
Jim
And to post a similar poll on a Corvette Forum wouldn't be as ridiculous. Why not post them on a MOPAR Forum and see who wins?

Well I posted a poll on a SRT/10 forum I belong to, so we will see what the MOPAR guys have to say.
It's also in the Offensive Forum. If you are easily offended, you may not want to go there. We get to really speak our minds there.

I don't think you would need a pulley on the FGT not to get "smoked" by the ZR1. Stock, ZR1 may be slightly faster although 1/4 times are comparable. A Heffner tune (allows the engine to run the way it was meant to run) and an Ford Racing Exhaust puts you at about 600 hp without the pulley.

But then you tune the Vette and are ahead again. So you will have to call Whipple and get a bigger charger, then you do the same for the Vette, then you go back to Hef for the twin turbo kit, then you do the same with the Vette. Then my uncle beats up your uncle.
I would take the GT out of the two.
Jamo has thrown the best looking car made today in the mix. The dealers are also offering steep discounts on them. I could do with out his giant Italian watches though... my dainty wrists can't handle them.

I doubt Jamo would turn down a hummer in the AM or PM.
I know. no need to send an invitation.

I own a Chevy, 2 Chryslers, and a Ford. I love the Corvette, the Viper and the Ford GT. I would like to have one of each...HOWEVER...if I could only have 1 of the afore mentioned, it would be the Ford GT hands down.
I don't think that is a biased opinion.

Which one would you rather own considering all factors. Design, appearance, value, resale value, enjoyment of ownership and any other factor you deem important.
To make it an "even up" comparison consider the purchase price of the two cars to be equal.
|
No comparison, Ford GT.
The ZR1 outperforms the GT stock for stock, but stock is for wussies. And $1000 in parts adds over 200 more rwhp to the GT. Oh, and you can make 1200 rwhp in the GT if you want and never even have to pull a valve cover. Not sure how bulletproof the ZR1 motor it, but the Z06 motors were kicking rods at 500rwhp.
Also, the Vette is just another Vette. Sure it's a nice car and a world class performer, but it's still just a Vette. I told my buddy with his C6 Z06 that when the next version comes out nobody will care about his car and that's the truth. And when he takes it out and drives it, people just look at it like just another member of the plastic fanstastic.
The Ford GT has soul and visual impact. Hell, I'd trade my CSX for one.

Every self-indulgent wiener with 5 gold chains around his neck, a pink polo with the collar turned up and an exposed hairy butt crack has a vette; and 90% (or more) of the US couldn't tell the difference between a base, a Z06 and a ZR1 without reading the badge or decal. Hell, half probably couldn't tell a C4 from a C5.
Not even close for me, Ford GT, GT40, SPF GT, RCR GT, Safir GT......eh.. you get my meaning.
waiting, waiting..........

The issue of "just another Vette" is due to the shear numbers. The ZR1 and Z06 look amazingly similar to the generic Corvettes, of which there are tens of thousands. The Ford GT, while technologically inferior, has the 'gotcha' factor, and is quite rare due to the limited (and later halted) production. I love Corvettes, but next to the 427 Cobra, the Ford GT MKII is my favorite all-time car. Also to consider is the ZR1 (and Z06) will depreciate severely in the near future, but the Ford GT will probably not.
All costs and depreciation considered, I would pick a well constructed GT40 MKII Replica with an aluminum 427 FE over both of the above.

Me too. I would like to have a GT (either Ford GT or a Superformance).
Between the GT of any kind and the ZR1, in 5 or 10 years the 'Vette will be "just another 'Vette", but the GT will always be unique.

No doubt the Ford GT. For most of the above reasons, but not the hairy butt crack one.
This site is somewhat depressing:

Check out the trashed Ford GT's for sale with a salvage title. Makes one want to weep.

It's a lot closer over on the SRT/10 site. 32 to 18 in favor of the Ford GT.
To be truthful, I'm somewhat surprised.

Corvettes while a real nice car are what my neighbor calls "belly button cars".
Who even looks a Corvette when they drive down the street?
