Default lubricate a rack and pinon

I have a manual rack and pinion on my cobra. Is it possible to lubricate/grease the internal components. The car was just up on a lift and the mechanic had to move/twist the front tires from left to right and he said he felt some tightness or dryness.
Any thoughts, thanks.
Joe

Joe, may I recommend you give more details.

Sure, it is a B & B, 427 body style, and has the Mustang II type rack and pinion installed.

There's no fitting on the rack. All you can do is pull the end-boots back, move the rack to the left-most position, and throw some grease on. The next step would be to remove the pinion cap, but that would require removal of the rack.
